Pascal's Wager states that you might as well believe in god just in case it's real, as believing and being wrong will cost you nothing. Well, that belief may condemn you. Consider the following possibility There is a god who created man - either directly or indirectly - but has never communicated with us, never told us how to live, never threatened us, never interfered with our lives. This is a god who reveres skepticism and rational thought. This is a god who disapproves of naiveté. This is a god who is displeased by people believing in fake, man-made gods. This is a god who will punish you for believing in man's lies.

He was a Christian writing for people who were familiar with the concept of the "Abrahamic" God, who knows what mental hoops we are jumping trough - IMO Pascal was wrong but for a different reason.

Quite simply it is arguing that the consequences of not believing means one should which Is bad logic ,

While on the surface it seems logical, it is unreliable not least since an omniscient God will know that you are not sincere in your final repentance but do it as on a selfish balance of possibilities; and that there is no guarantee that the god you finally accept is actually the correct god.

That is why Pascal recommends brainwashing yourself.

Bible bashing started really quickly here.
Funny that no other belief system seems to be under attack here as far as I can see.

They're just louder, from what I have observed.
