Eh. The first season was fine, but...I already saw ET and The Goonies. And the second season was forgettable. I could probably go without ever watching another episode.
How's this season compare?

How's this season compare? a lot weaker than 1 for sure, about the same as 2, but I like the universe and the acting enough to keep watching.

While there was plenty not to like I stand being infatuated with dustin. I would love to have a ring of him saying Abort Abort on my phone...

I am only five episodes in and I really like it so far. It is the same quality of season two, which is still some of the best television out there. Season one is still the gold standard.

One of the best seasons of television I've ever seen. Like a nostalgia orgasm.
I really love this season THAT much and it even surpasses Season 1 imo.
I'm not a fan of Season 2.

I'm not a fan of Season 2. really? what made it better than season 1 for you? More emotional, more intense, more visceral, the mall setting, Millie Bobby Brown's performance, the relationship stuff and it feels a bit more like it's own thing than Season 1. I also like that this season goes in a more campy direction than the first Season, evoking movies like Chopping Mall and the Cold War movies of the 1980's. The kids using 4th of July fireworks to fight the monster is perfection.

Just finished season 3...I loved it. Not sure if it’s my favorite season as I’d have to watch the others again, but I found it at least on par with my memory. The pacing was spot on and I felt invested in every plot pretty much. It was even sporadically meta in the sense that when I’d start to tire of a thing (like Hop and Joyce’s bickering) another character would shut it down or make a comment on behalf of the audience. I loved the monster villain...the allusions to zombies and invasion of the body snatchers...and the creature itself being a cross between the thing and the blob. There was some solid body horror there. I’m not sure why the Byers had to move tho. Surely the mall being destroyed would’ve been good for business. So we separate on kind of a sad note, which never feels great but hopefully season 4 doesn’t take too many years.

Winona Ryder's character talks about wanting to leave that town earlier in the season.

Really enjoyed Season 3 - it benefited from a simpler story and some nice new characters. The only real (minor) problem I had was soundtrack wise it probably had the weakest selection of tracks of the 3 seasons.

SPOILERS!
I couldn’t help singing along when the “Never Ending Story Theme” sequence happened. In a show full of nostalgia, this really hit the mark. I loved that film as a kid!
As for the season, it started too slow, but it made it up in the last four episodes

Double posting here...but I saw you comment on something that is bothering me as well. Why the hell did they have to write it as the Byers leaving Hawkins? That's the one huge downer for me of Season 3. I enjoyed up until then. I just found that unnecessary.
