Looks surprisingly amateurish. Not that I'm the biggest Soska Sisters fan, but I'd have expected higher production values.

The Soska Sisters haven't really delivered on their hype. From the looks of this, that isn't going to change any time soon.
What is it about us as horror fans that we are willing to prop up so much mediocrity, anyway?

The Soska Sisters haven't really delivered on their hype. From the looks of this, that isn't going to change any time soon. What is it about us as horror fans that we are willing to prop up so much mediocrity, anyway? I think their first effort was well liked by people (even though I don't think much of it), and it appealed to a particular subculture of people who are also horror fans. But more generally, I think it has to do with how much garbage we see as horror fans. There are so many movies in the genre and so few are good, so when something touches a nerve at all it's notable. Also, they're women, which is something, but more over they are women who are also identical twins and who are also have a striking look and have a big collective personality. So they have a reason to be memorable, even if the work isn't really. I'm rooting for them to be good, but as far as I can tell that really hasn't happened yet.

I didn't even know this was getting a remake. The trailer doesn't make me want to rush out and see it, but I'm sure it'll be on my watchlist when it is available on Amazon or Netflix.
