I feel like this show is kinda flying under the radar, which is too bad because so far I think it's been great. I'm not really a political guy nor am I aware of how accurate the series actually is to real life, but as a show The Loudest Voice has been very interesting to watch. Russell Crowe kills it as Roger Ailes. The character he and the writers created here is very layered and complicated. The supporting cast are very strong too. The show is only a mini-series consisting of 7 episodes, so it's not a very big commitment either.

I'm on episode 4. There's a scene where ROGER AILES eats a cake. He doesn't cut it or share it. He starts to dig in the whole thing with his fork and it's implied that he'll try to finish it. And this happens during a serious conversation. It comes off as the makers wanting the image of his weight being stuck in the viewer's mind. Like "Hey, look at this fatty! We're allowed to treat him like this because he's also a monster!" It's kind of immature, isn't it? The reason why this bugs me is that, up until this point, the show had done a great job with the characterization. He's not a cartoon villain nor the butt of shallow jokes. There are plenty of moments where he acts funny and charming and, because he does come off as likeable, we temporarily forget the bad things he did.

I'm on episode 5: -GABRIEL: "What's wrong?" -BRIAN: "You keep poking into ROGER's personal life and I will rip off your head and shit down your neck." [Literally 20 seconds later] -BRIAN: "You keep digging down this rabbit hole and things are not gonna go down well for you." -GABRIEL: "Is that a threat?" What the--Did you not think that the first thing he said was a threat?
By the way, wasn't the idea of naming each episode after a year that each episode would only take place in said year? Because this one starts in 2012 and finishes in 2014.

I finished it. While it doesn't achieve the impact it's going for (since it's based on something too recent), it was still dramatically entertaining and very well-acted.
