Good news for Thailand or Rome? That was a silly joke, never mind it then.

Have you ever seen any past Popes, Geode? I got to see Pope St. John Paul II right up close, back in 2002 (actually, I've also seen the Greek Orthodox Patriarch, Bartholomew I, back when he came to the GTA as well, but, seeing JP II felt greater).

I might get a chance to see the world's foremost ChristIan leader in person. Are you Catholic? No, I am a non-denominational Christian.

No, but I wish the opportunity had availed itself. It would have been a honor to have seen John Paul II as you got to do.

Maybe you'll get a chance to see Pope Francis up close, when he's in Thailand.

From the films I've seen, Thailand seems like such a gorgeous place. Wouldn't mind visiting myself.

From the films I've seen, Thailand seems like such a gorgeous place. Wouldn't mind visiting myself. I got the chance to visit about 30 years ago, and it is overall great, except I found Bangkok kind of a mixed bag: lots of beauty and interesting places and people, but very crowded, congested and polluted air. I really liked Chiang Mai.

I really liked Chiang Mai. What's hooked me from the films I've seen is how they've depicted the nature there more than the cities. I'm specifically thinking of the films of Apichatpong Weerasethakul (who's perhaps my favorite new filmmaker of this century).

I saw John Paull II at a mass celebrating Mother Teresa at the Vatican when she was beatified. It was very tedious as his Parkinson's disease was very advanced at that point.
