Jodorowsky's Dune. Not a massive fan of either the novels or the director, but after seeing the documentary on the subject and the talent involved, it could have been something special.

Instead we got the Hellboy (2019) reboot which flopped, deservedly from what I hear. Nah, it wasn't that bad Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen Hellboy (2019), and I'm in no hurry do so.

I saw the documentary too, and a lot of talented people were working on the pre-production of that film. The concept art was incredible, but I understand film executives' reaction to the proposed 14 hour running time. These days they'd make it as a film franchise, or a cable TV series. Jodorowsky was before his time.

I wasn't exactly cancelled but I kind wished Tarantino went ahead and made The Vegas Brothers with John Travolta and Michael Madsen.
Paul Verhoeven movie about the Crusades starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jennifer Connelly, Gary Sinise and Charlton Heston.
Neil Blomkamp Alien movie
And while Vin Diesel still said he has every intention of making it, his movie about Hannibal Barca.

Spielberg considered making a film of Budd Schulberg's What Makes Sammy Run, but dropped it.

King Lear with Anthony Hopkins as Lear, Keira Knightley as Cordelia, Naomi Watts as Goneril, and Gwyneth Paltrow as Regan. No official reason was given as to its cancellation, but this was during the big recession a decade ago, so that's largely considered to be the culprit.
