They just announced a whole bunch of movies that have covered almost everyone.
Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Falcon and Winter Soldier are all set.
They've mentioned newbies like Shang Chi, Blade, Fantastic Four and X-Men.
So amongst the main ones the only ones they didn't mention were Spider-Man and Ant-man. Spider-Man will obviously get more movies and probably wasn't announced because that's Sony's business.
So where does that leave Ant-man? His movies are probably the least successful and least popular so you think they might do away with that one?

Even if he doesn't get another solo outing, it's very likely he may show up in one of the other films or projects. Not sure which one would work best, but with Rudd's personality and likeability I can see instant chemistry with anyone he shares the screen with. Marvel wouldn't let that go to waste, hopefully.

That's why he wants fans to campaign for it.

His movies are probably the least successful and least popular so you think they might do away with that one? There is an interview with Fiege online (MTV?) where he talks about there being a New Avengers with old and new characters...I hope Ant-Man is one of the old (the interviewer also asked if the next phase would be leading to an event like Secret Wars and Fiege said "yes"). There will be a Black Panther 2 and a GOTG 3 for sure so maybe there have been some announcements until details are finalised...I mean who saw Blade coming? I'm in the minority in that I love the first Ant-Man film, but I think for most people, like Hulk, he works better in a team (Giant Man in Civil War is still one of the biggest cinema geekgasm moments I've ever had). I don't think it's the last we've seen of him, and wouldn't be surprised if appearances are made in the announced films or TV shows (my money is on Falcon & The Winter Soldier). In fact I think there will be a lot of cameos in the Phase 4 and beyond - both new and old characters - which I look forward to as I always loved it in the comics

Yeah I was thinking about this the other day. After his role in Endgame you'd think they'd have plans for a third film. The first two were modest successes and I have to believe his popularity is at an all time high right now. Not many guest star opportunities for him that make sense in phase four. I could see him popping up in Doctor Strange 2 since it deals with the multiverse; quantum realm and all that.
I'd like to see another Avengers film before too long, but phase five is already crowded as well.

Don't make another standalone, yet Ant-Man &/or Wasp surely should be invited in for team play in a next ensemble movie. Or even a Hulk-Ragnarok style role for a Dr. Strange or Spider-Man movie.
Honestly, I can't see them abandoning potential with Cassie being given a suit down the road.

We need more Ant-Man and the Wasp! How about a TV series on Disney+?

The character doesn't appear to be overly popular, so I think they will pop up in other people's movies. That's fine with me. Everyone doesn't need their own movie just for the sake of it.

I came out of it satisfied, but thinking it wasn't memorable.

I came out of it satisfied, but thinking it wasn't memorable. Ant-man was the point when I realized that the MCU could do no wrong. I mean, come on. A superhero called Ant-man? There was no possible way a movie about a totally obscure character (to the general public) with such a ridiculous superpower would work ... yet it did! I thought it was pretty good, critics thought it was pretty good, and it was a box office success! The problem these days is that it pales in comparison to those MCU movies that can be considered the titans of all superhero movies. Those critically acclaimed, billion dollar+ movies that have reset the bar so high that it's almost unfair to everyone else.

I liked both his movies. I liked him a lot too. Of all the casting choices, Paul Rudd remains among the most surprisingly successful to me.
That said, I'll politely concede to accepting no more Ant-Man. He's done his job, did his time. It'll be sad to see him go but it is what it is. I'd rather he depart now than hang around long enough to no longer be missed. I thought he did a great job, so I'd like to see him get out while he's still in the green. Cheers, Rudd.
