Started it a while back, got back into it recently...I just started season 5....at this point my thoughts are...
Phoebe is my favorite, followed by Chandler and Joey. I’m over the whole Rachel Ross thing. I know it goes on forever but I’m already sick of it. Some of them are really bad friends at times. The audience cheers at weird times, at times. Really throws my reaction off when I’m going ‘nooo’ and they’re going ‘yeeeea’. Emily was so much better than Rachel. So was Bonnie for that matter. I’m fond of the Chandler Monica thing...although I liked Rachel and Ross initially too so hopefully I don’t tire of this as quickly.
Anyway not up there with The Office or Parks and Rex...or even classic sitcoms like Roseanne or Married w Children...but I’m still enjoying it enough to keep watching.

People who love it, love it a lot.
I have fond memories of watching it on NBC Thursday nights, but there are funnier sitcoms. However, you'd be hard pressed to find more lovable characters played so well. Many, many have tried to duplicate this show, but it was such a special combination of talent at the right time.

The first couple of seasons, I didn't see a lot of first time around. IIRC, the first season aired on Tuesday nights? I know the second season aired on Thursday nights. I had night classes on Tuesday for season 1, and Thursday for season 2.
Third season thru to where Ross and Rachel were getting a divorce, I watched it religiously.
After Ross announced that he never got the annulment of the wedding, so technically he and Rachel were still married, that kind of put me off.
However, like many great shows, I did watch the series finale.
BTW, my brother is so totally Chandler. His girlfriend at the time was a total Phoebe. As for me, I think I'm a mix of all 3 - mostly Ross with a bit of Chandler and a wee bit of Joey mixed in.

Some of them are really bad friends at times. For example? The audience cheers at weird times, at times. Really throws my reaction off when I’m going ‘nooo’ and they’re going ‘yeeeea’. For example?

Bad friends? When Chandler makes out with Joeys girlfriend. When Ross throws a hissy fit because Rachel didn’t want to go to his wedding in London. When Rachel shrugs off her bosses death as a non issue and prioritizes whether she got a raise or not. Bad laugh tracks? The aforementioned bosses death. Rachel deciding to go to London and ruin Ross wedding.

I didn't watch it then and don't watch it now, but if it's on I'll watch a few minutes because the girls are gorgeous. Back in the day it was one of those shows people got together to watch in bars and homes. I dated a girl who never missed an episode. She always laughed when I talked about the girl with the nipples (JA).

Emily was so much better than Rachel. So was Bonnie for that matter. But neither one was his lobster!

I started watching probably around season 3, watched it regularly for a few seasons, and then eventually stopped maybe two years before it ended, when I just couldn't stand Joey and Phoebe anymore - she had become too wacky and he had become too stupid.
I am pretty sure I must have caught all of the earlier episodes in reruns, but there are probably quite a few from the last two seasons that I've never watched, and don't feel particularly inclined to seek out.

Anyway not up there with The Office or Parks and Rex...or even classic sitcoms like Roseanne or Married w Children...but I’m still enjoying it enough to keep watching. Phoebe is BY FAR my favorite. To be honest, I wouldn't watch it all if it weren't for Phoebe. She was the only one who was truly interesting and IRL I kinda doubt if she would have been friends with the others. Maybe Joey, but that would be it. She was the funniest and also was the one with the most depth. And I love Lisa Kudrow to begin with. Rachel would be my second favorite. She was funny and I liked her, though I do agree that by the end of the show, there was just too much Rachel on it. So that was annoying, but I thought Jennifer Aniston was charming. Joey would be my third favorite, because he was just so kind and warm and cuddly. I wasn't a big fan of the doofus schtick, but he was likeable. Chandler, next. He's okay. I'm kind of indifferent to him. The Geller siblings come in last place. Monica is so-so, but I cannot stand Ross. He's an arrogant dickhead as far as I'm concerned. Boring and I would say even somewhat a bully. This clip absolutely gets why I LOVE Phoebe and why I can't stand Ross. I agree with just about everything Phoebe says. I love the way she thinks. I would follow her around like a puppy dog. Also Lisa Kudrow and I are both INFPs!!! Woo Hoo!!!

I love the middle seasons. To me, the show jumped the shark around the time all of them found out about Chandler and Monica.
I like the guys more than the girls, to be honest.
If these were real people, I would avoid Monica like the plague. She was worse than Janet, imo.
Phoebe is a little too out there but she should have ended up with Joey.
Rachel is the most normal and the best looking too.
The show lasted at about 3 seasons too long.
