Yes, I like him. He got a bit repetitive toward the end, but so do a lot of actors.

Very good actor - and in his epic heroic roles I can think of no one who would be better. Still, my favourites of his performances are his flawed characters - e.g. The Big Country and Major Dundee.

He was in one of the most iconic endings with one of the greatest plot twists of all time for movies.

Yeah he was great. His film “Secret Of The Incas” was the stylistic model for the entire Indiana Jones franchise.

He has a strong presence. I suppose he's more of a 'needs a director' actor. Performances I liked: BEN-HUR EL CID THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD (Yes, he overacts, but it's a good contrast to the low-key performances in that film). The Lester MUSKETEER films.
I've never seen his more lauded performances like THE BIG COUNTRY, THE WAR-LORD, MAJOR DUNDEE, WILL PENNY.
Met him once in 1994. He came to my town to endorse an election. My uncle was able to get me an autograph. I tried to have him sign my BEN-HUR 35TH ANNIVERSARY VHS Set, but the pen couldn't get through the cardboard, so we used the Trevor Willsmer-scribed booklet inside.

He was in some great movies, that's for sure. By modern standards, he wasn't a very good actor but he didn't look out of place during his era.

Considering that he was in many of my father's favourite movies - Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, El Cid, Planet of the Apes - I grew up thinking of him as The Biggest Movie Star of All Time. That was a long time ago though. He may have been a huge star, but I don't think of him as a particularly good actor now.

Yes I like him. His range was limited and sometimes he had excesses in performance where he did funny things with his head postures--but he could be very good when he was good.
Planet of the Apes. Ben Hur. El Cid. The Agony and the Ecstasy where he plays a very different character from the warriors.
You can see the value in his performance style here--when compared to Clint Eastwood reciting the Academy notice. If you need someone to make a flowery speech about commandments, Heston is just a natural for it:

I do like him, though most of his films aren't particularly to my taste, as I am more partial to comedies really. But I did enjoy Ben-Hur, The Greatest Show on Earth, The Agony and the Ecstacy, and he was very good in The Three Musketeers. And I read his autobiography, which is very good, it has some very amusing stories in it.

One of my favorites of all time. Even his later roles were interesting. The Awakening was a pretty fun Egyptian curse type film, that was one of his last starring roles.
