What do you think church services should be like? What kinds of things should be done and what should the format be like? How long do you think is ideal for a church service? I think Christian church services should contain a sermon. I think singing worship songs or hymns is optional. I like the idea of playing a game during church as well. It can be a game where the congregation get to know each other better or it can be related to the message. I think one hour is a good length of a church service but it is alright if it goes a little over that. I think passing a collection plate is optional, but I prefer when churches don't pass the collection plate. I like the idea of fellowship and refreshments after the service. I think it should be a casual atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable. I like the idea of interactive church services where participation from the congregation is allowed, when possible. What do you think about church services?

You should get the wafer at the beginning of mass, and it should contain some LSD.
Then, church should be 8 hours long.
It should not take place in a church, preferably in a field in the sunlight.
Stop with the preaching stuff, let people experience something instead of pretending that you speak for God.

Church should primarily be about teaching.
Only responding to this in relation to Christianity's requirement for fellowship.
It can do this in any number of ways:
- An interesting sermon or talk - Question & Answer - Reading - Bible discussion. This one should be done far more often. Many sermons are based on cherry picking a scripture or two without any context. It's basically the same thing a theophobiac does except with the positive scriptures taken out of context. This is how we get Hippy Jesus.
Bible Discussion can encompass any number of things even including geography or culture. one of the best sermons I've heard was a deep discussion of Jonah. It's why it's one of my favorite books now.
Everything else is secondary to the objective of instruction. It should do more than just make you feel good because there are times when there may not be much to feel good about until you understand it in relation to bible teachings.

Well, you do realize, that how a Church service is to go, will depend upon the Christian denomination right?
Some will be very long while others will only be short.
Regardless if whether the Christian or the particular Christian denomination believes in the Literal Presence Of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, Bread & Wine should always be offered. Why? Because that is how the act of worship is actually carried out: By giving God or gods some kind of sacrifice or offering, & in the case of Christianity, it is Bread & Wine (denominations which believe in the Literal Presence Of Christ is far better, IMO, but, that's for a different discussion).

I like the old time collection plate, before the preacher started making threats against people who didn't tithe, and promises for people who did tithe that were lies.
The last services I attended were wild Pentecostal ones. Very active, very informal. I kind of prefer something more formal but lay back. I like for the preacher to do his thing, say his thing, have a few hymns, and then if there is more, do it in an informal gathering afterwards.

The church is technically a group of people (rather than just a building). In that sense, "church" should be done throughout the week (in smaller communities). But the weekend gatherings should be about equipping the church to carry out its mission throughout the week.

I own the blu-ray, on a big screen TV it's like staring into the eye of God:
