4/10 The three leads are actually very good but the film lacks the laughs and fun as the original shorts had. Basically it just had me wanting to the see the real thing rather than people mimicking them.

I'm not much of a fan of original The Three Stooges and this movie is a bad imitation.
3.5/10

I liked it, as a prequel to the Originals.

I mostly liked it. Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but not bad.

If you wanna like it then you have to let go of all preconceived ideas and notions of the orig. Stooges and don't make any comparisons. You have to realize that this is a totally new approach to them. If you cannot keep those things in mind then you might hate it. I sorta like it. Not enough to own it or borrow from the lib. but enough to watch it again if if ever comes back to cable TV.

Jon Cryer?
It's fine for what it is. The actors did a good job. Not something I ever want to see again, but I'm not really a Stooges fan to begin with.
Would have loved to see the version with Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, and Benicio Del Toro. What a crazy cast.

In the old movies, the routines were always the same and they were repeated over and over. That's why they were funny only for a limited amount time. That's also the case here, but maybe that's a good thing. It means that the makers succeeded in their goal of re-creating the shorts. Plus, the plot turns aren't predictable. The Farrellys may have lost their touch when it comes to comedy (at least in movies where they work together) but, when they get sentimental, they always nail it. The dramatic moments here are honest. Chris Diamantopoulos is the one that stands out. He's only one who does more than an impersonation. Before the "protagonists fight before the climax cliché," there's a full minute of non-stop slapstick. You're either going to love it or hate it. The worst scene is the one that involves babies in a hospital. If you're going to separate a movie into episodes/segments, then there has to be more than 1 storyline. This is 1 storyline with different situations. Trust me: There's a difference. OK, it's a Lego vs Megablocks type of difference in that only certain people will notice. 4/10 He's not in the movie.

He was in the Three Stooges, but in a different film with Cryer Not seen the Three Stooges film...don't think it was released on the big screen or DVD in the UK. The Three Stooges are not really a "thing" in the UK.

There was an ABC TV movie of The Three Stooges that was executive-produced by Mel Gibson that came out in 2000. It was more of a drama and not just a comedy. Michael Chicklis from The Shield played Curly.

Obviously no match to the originals but for what it was, it was pretty good. The guys who played the stooges really did their homework.
