Revised and updated from a previous post.
Jane Withers
She was born on April 12, 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia, began her career in vaudeville, and soon after became one of the most popular child stars of the 1930s. She continued acting into adulthood in films like Giant and managed a career that lasted from 1932 until she retired in 2002!
With Shirley Temple in Bright Eyes (1934).
Rita Hayworth in Paddy O'Day (1936).
She was popular enough for lots of fan magazine coverage and the creation of a doll franchise.
All before becoming an adult. . .
With Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor in Giant (1956).
As Josephine the Plumber in her popular long running stint in cleanser ads. She's a woman who always brought joy to everything she did and to all who surrounded her.
and she got a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame to boot.
Happy 94th Birthday to the amazing Jane Withers. May it be a wonderful one.

That's funny, I've just seen her being murdered a few days ago, in a re-run episode of Murder She Wrote named Who Killed J.B. Fletcher? (1991).
She also took over the voice of Laverne in the Disney Hunchback of Notre Dame franchise after Mary Wickes passed away, even including video games.
Last seen in a cinema movie was 1963 Captain Newman, M.D.
Sadly, the only movie I've seen her in is George Steven's magnificent Giant 1956, and she is billed before Dennis Hopper, Sal Mineo and Rod Taylor!
Happy Birthday Jane!!

Reminds me of seeing Our Daisy from "Keeping Up Appearance" being the victim of a poisoned cocktail in a Miss Marple Episode. Nooooo... not Daisy !

Happy birthday, Jane Withers! Wonderful child actress and pretty good as an adult, too. Josephine the plumber, anybody? I hope that if her mind is still alert and someone takes the time that she does a career interview, and a long one (or has it been done?). What a great read that would be.

Happy Birthday Jane!! Actually, we never actually SEE her character murdered; it happens offscreen. One of my favorite episodes.

Apparently she was in Giant (1956) but I don't remember her at all.

I remember all those "Josephine the Plumber" commercials as a kid--not only did she fix the plumbing, she showed everyone how to scrub the sinks with Comet. It was only later that I saw her in Bright Eyes as the horrid "playmate" of Shirley Temple--she was scarily realistic as a brat.

I hope that Miss Withers reads this and enjoys hearing from people who've seen and enjoyed her work over the years. Best wishes for a happy birthday and I hope an even longer life, and most of all, good health.
