Because Disney doesn't need they money. They make billions of dollars a day they don't need to be taking more than what they need. Does Sony "need" the money? That is really a dumb concept. Don't know about you, but Marvel seems to actually CARE about where the character goes while to Sony, it's just money. Yeah Sony does need the money. Disney is a multibillion dollar company. Sony can't say the same. And Disney only cares about the money too. They're greedy which is why they're trying to take more than what they need.

What Sony Pictures needs, if it plans to survive the coming content wars and the era of streaming, is a business model that does not revolve around a single cinematic property to sustain it. A co-financing deal with Disney on Spider-Man films would have given Sony the latitude to develop other franchises. This would, in turn, help diversify their slate and prevent them from running Spider-Man into the ground out of sheer necessity.

BTW, please tell us exactly how much money Disney "needs". Please include an all inclusive list of all of Disney's income and costs and profit margins. Don't forget to include the cost of taxation, regulation, employee benefits, stock holder dividends, maintenance, and investment in new projects and construction. Thank you.

The guy playing Goofy at Disneyworld is overpaid.

If the Sony fanboys boycott Disney while the MCU fans boycott Sony, it may restore the balance. No one wins just like the old days when we got the Star Wars prequels and Spider-Man 3.

Disney, in case you can't see past your blinders of hate, pretty much let Marvel do their thing. They jump in here & there, but overall, they know not to kill the goose laying the golden eggs, unlike with SW.

What strange little fantasy world do you reside in that allows one to go back to how things used to be? Never happens in my world. The past is gone.

Who knows if that is actually true though.

I don't think the word toxic means what you think it does.Β the worst of the fandom? The ugly side of fandom? Whatever you want to call it, not a good look. You think harassassing and bullying studios to get what you want is normal good behavior of mcu fans?

You think harassassing and bullying studios to get what you want is normal good behavior of mcu fans? That is precisely what we think. A corporation is not a living entity. It is a construct. We can and must reshape it to our will. Corporations will come and go; the fandom is eternal. Thy will be done. As it is on the panel, so too shall it be on the big screen. Forever and ever. Amen.
