Back in his Fresh Prince days Will Smith performed A Nightmare On My Street which was inspired by the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise.

What? No love for the Freddy vs Jason soundtrack? Eh. I liked it as a nu-metal junky back in the day, but there isn't much on there that holds up. The Type O Negative song is still great, it that's about it for me.

The Type O Negative song is still great, it that's about it for me. Yeah, I was kinda joking. It's sort of the best example of a thing thar doesn't really exist anymore, which is that early 2000s soundtrack album that doesn't have anything to do with the movie itself but just was slapped together to capitalize on whatever new release was coming around. It was usually mostly C-level bands that nobody really would pay attention to otherwise along with one or two bands people actually knew whose songs were awkwardly shoehorned into the movie. It's not the worst of those, but it is a prime example.

The Punk/Hair Metal soundtrack of Return of the Living Dead. Don't think that has anything to do with this topic.

I know it has been already posted earlier, so, I guess the only "excuse" I can give or come up with to bring up once more, is the whole incredible cheesy but legendary dance scene from the second film, which also happens to be the one I enjoy the most in the whole franchise.
"How do you like that, dad?"

DMX - X is Coming (the opening lyrics mimic Freddy's nursery rhyme)
