Much like NBA players like: "What if Len Bias hadn't died?" or "What if Penny Hardaway's knee's never let him down?"
I personally can't think of an NFL player that comes to mind in terms of this. Maybe Barry Sanders or Megatron? I saw somebody on Twitter suggest Bo Jackson but I'm not familiar enough with his career to know what happened to him.
So I ask, is Andrew Luck now the biggest "What if injuries didn't ruin his career?" in NFL history?

He's definitely in the conversation but I think Bo Jackson is a bigger what if.

Just saw this at another forum......what the shit???!!! Here I thought the Colts were turning things around after the 2018 season when they got back to the playoffs after the 3 previous shitty years with a bad coach, now they lost their "franchise" QB! Well, this certainly could be the biggest story of the 2019 season and we haven't even gotten started!

He's definitely in the conversation but I think Bo Jackson is a bigger what if. What happened to him? Did he get hurt too? Career ending hip injury. You're aware he was a professional baseball and football player? He eventually had hip replacement surgery and played baseball again for a while but he was never the same player.
You should watch the excellent 30 for 30 on him, You Don't Know Bo.

He was before my time so I only know certain things about him. I know that he played baseball and football for the Royals and Raiders I believe. That he was an amazing athlete. I know that he was apparently a monster in Techmo Bowl. I know that he had a slogan "Bo Knows". That's it. Didn't know that his career ended sooner than later. I might have to check that one out. Some of those 30 for 30's are really good.

What about Marucs Dupree? I remember watching a 30 for 30 on him. Apparently he was one hell of a talent but injuries ruined his career early on.

What about Marucs Dupree? I remember watching a 30 for 30 on him. Apparently he was one hell of a talent but injuries ruined his career early on. His freshman year at Oklahoma, he was as good as anyone. As good as Earl Campbell, Hershel Walker, Reggie Bush, Ricky Williams. If he had been happy at Oklahoma and been able to get along with Barry Switzer, he should have been a HOFer. Unlike Hershel, he wasn't shit in the USFL. In the end, he was one of hundreds who had one good college season and one only. Ricky Williams, another what if. He had it all. Including the weight of the world. If he had had a normal path to the pros instead of New Orleans putting their entire future on his back. And the Sports Illustrated cover. And the pot smoking.

Gale Sayers too. If he could have stayed healthy and not had to share time with Brian Piccolo (sorry, Piccolo might have been a tear jerking story but he wasn't a quarter of the runner that Sayers was) we would have owned the record book.

Very sad news for Colts fans and the man himself who was a fighter. I guess he's more wrecked than some imagined. So much talent.

The running backs mentioned all had significant careers; Kijana Carter would be the closest thing to a "what if". Quarterback-wise, Greg Cook is a very intriguing what if, but we're not talking about a quarterback who was considered to have the best tools since John Elway. I'd be completely sick if I was a Colts fan.

Biggest 'What Ifs':
What if - Eric Lindros never had concussion problems
What if - Mike Tyson never ran into Robin Givens and Don King.....

IMO the only way the "What if...? could be applied to Luck is if he had quit, gotten a career ending injury or death before he played his very first reg. season NFL game or was a few winning games into it before going away.
