Some AFL ones- Sydney vs West Coast. From. 2005-07 had 10 games in a row decided by a single possession, including 2 grand finals.
Geelong vs Hawthorn 2008-19. So many close games. A monumental Grand Final upset, an 11 game winning streak for Geelong where 9 of those wins were by less than 6. A spiteful Grand Final qualifier and still having thrillers to this day.

I don't know. It was a good rivalry for a few years from 03-09. Overall incredibly one sided in favor of the Pats. Since Brady became the starter in 2001, it's 11-4 Pats in the regular season and 4-1 Pats in the postseason. Many of those Pats wins have been absolute blowouts; Luck never beat the Patriots in his entire career. The Patriots haven't lost to the Colts since 2009. I guess in terms of fan enmity it's a good rivalry, but I'm not sure the players/staff care all that much these days in Foxboro. Belichick hates the Jets more than he hates the Colts.

I should have clarified that I was talking strictly 00s Manning/Brady era. Obviously there was no “rivalry” at all in the Luck era.

Those regular season games felt like playoff games because they were basically for who was going to have home field in the playoffs.

I'm going with Avalanche and Red Wings, hands down. I think everyone will agree, the Seattle Dragons and the Tampa Bay Vipers is one of the greatest sports rivalries of all time, let alone the last quarter century.

That's what made me start this thread. My sources also tell me the MLS is going to institute a "batsman" position, and the first signing for this position will be Tim Teebow.

I'm not surprised, Tebow hasn't played a minute in the MLS and his jersey is already the number one selling jersey.

Boston and Yankees...like or hate it 2nd place. I went with Duke-UNC because they play 2-3 times a year while Red Sox-Yanks play 19 times. And I'm just going with North American sports. I know that European rivalries get uglier. Celtic-Rangers, Real Madrid-Barcelona have issues deeper than just sports.

Boston and Yankees...like or hate it I can't disagree. The Yankees remain the #1 team with daylight in the largest pro sporting market on the planet. A baseball team. Red Sox still run Boston & it's not close. Both clashing is beyond most anything. That they were both successful this century was fuel. Their dust ups made Steelers-Ravens look like daycare hissy fits. Messi-Ronaldo Brady-Manning Real Madrid-Barcelona Canada-USA Women's Hockey

It's actually kind of hard for me to just name 1, I will instead (if it's okay) just name what I think have been the Best in Each of the 6 Sports below.
MLB - Yankees vs. Red Sox
NBA - Lakers vs. Celtics, Heat vs. Spurs, Warriors vs. Cavaliers
NFL - Giants vs. Patriots, Patriots vs. Colts, Patriots vs. Steelers
NHL - Penguins vs. Red Wings, Kings vs. Blackhawks
TENNIS - Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal
COLLEGE FOOTBALL - Alabama vs. Clemson

Australia vs South Africa in cricket Australia vs England in Test cricket India vs Pakistan
Germany vs. Argentina in soccer if you stretch the timeline to last 33 years or so.
Ferrari vs McLaren Schumacher vs Hakkinen in formula 1.
Liverpool vs AC Milan (the only reason this won't be considered one of the greatest rivalry by most is that these clubs are from different leagues and hence don't get to play each other often. But 2 CL finals between them was awesome.
