it lacks any self awareness of the content at all.

No because it's a deconstruction of the source material to further reflect on the current state of the human condition...or something like that.

Considering the source film, I'd say the show's gotten a little navel-gazing.

In other words it's about message not entertainment or creative merit. Just like with the Sopranos and other programs eventually succumbed to It's almost as if the filmmakers or their sponsors see art as merely a vehicle for social conditioning messages. I think I read about another society that approached art that way--somewhere in Asia, Union of Soviet..something something

In other words it's about message not entertainment or creative merit. It's about both. But anything with any intellectual weight is going to go right over your head, so since it hurts that pea sized brain of yours, the entertainment value won't hit you.

It's no accident that your substance-free responses to me are always filled with accusations that I'm "old"--a clearer case of someone projecting their own insecurities could not be found. You champion long dead authors whose careers reached their peaks generations ago, your favorite TV shows are in the 70's when TV was basically an idiot box with content only a child would be challenged by, and your all time favorite political movement got its pathetic ass kicked by supposedly incompetent Communists in the 1940's. Dude, you are a barely living, walking dinosaur if ever there was one.

It's no accident that your substance-free responses to me Yes but you took the trouble to reply-and a few irrelevant sentences too. Sad.

I kinda wish it tried to be less grand in season two. It became a show that felt complicated for the sake of being complicated...and that’s never really a good idea.

I assumed it was trying to replicate Bernard's fractured memories, but at times it seemed a little too needlessly convoluted.

I got the impression they thought the time jump reveal in season 1 was the best thing ever and decided to multiply that by 10...but I just remember being frustrated at a lack of clarity. I haven’t rewatched it tho so maybe it’s better on a second viewing.

I've also only seen it once.
