I got these: And the funny thing is that's just a picture of the exact combo that I do have I found looking for the laserdiscs I have. But I don't have that rug, and that is what I'm looking for in the Homerroom.

Man, I remember being so jealous of people who had LD players. I remember looking at the LD section in Tower Records and just being blown away. Just the covers contained so much info about some films. My buddy in college had one at home and he used to copy all the special features from the LDs of my favorite movies to VHS tapes and send them to me. Sometimes he'd send me a VHS copy of the whole movie with the LD audio commentary. I remember feeling like I finally made it to the movie collecting elite when I got my first DVD player in 1998 for $400. Many DVDs were just re-issued DVD versions of the old LD releases, so I was finally in! In fact, the bonus discs on #7 are just re-issues of the LDs you are showing (films only, no special features). 3-4 years later that player broke, and I got my next (even better) DVD player for $80. Lol.

Lol. Oh yes, I really wanted a LD player back in the day, but it wasn't gonna happen. Then about 10 or so years ago, there was a guy selling his Pioneer player and 100 plus discs including the closest to theatrical releases of the OT, I couldn't pass it up for $100.

For the early part of DVD's lifecycle, LDs were still considered to be superior. And DVD's never had uncompressed audio like LD. That said, I can't hear the difference. Unfortunately, I don't think any LDs are animorphic, so they're probably almost all pretty much unwatchable on today's 16:9 HD TVs....

They play decently but not perfect on our 37" Panny plasma that I've kept for so very long that I hook it up to. It's not as good as an old Trinitron for the purpose, but there was no way I was going to continue to lug those boat anchor CRT's around just for when I felt nostalgia, lol.

I'm seriously considering getting a small CRTs at a garage sale just to hook up my old VCR and old game consoles to. Maybe one of those small 13" TV/VCR combos. Lol.

You can score some decent stuff for nothing to free out there if you are patient. Estate sales , auctions, Craigslist, on the curb for trash pickup, lol. I know some guys who are into vintage TV's that have come across some gems that way. They are great if you have an old game console too!

Wow, jealousy in me ensues. I need to get the rest but I have these. I also never put on the VHS ones I had, ironically. Ugh. I forgot I have TPM on VHS too! Need to update my OP. Thanks!

I own the gold box Special Edition trilogy, and a black box original trilogy (both on VHS). I have a tape with the prequels that I taped off the TV back in the day. I own all the Disney-era movies on DVD.
