It's a surprising movie.
The story itself is rather simple and straightforward but the great performances by Dafoe and Pattinson on top of the stunning visuals quite make up for it.
A movie that you'll watch for the experience more than anything else.
9/10.

I think it looks like a visualization of someone's nonsensical rant.

I liked it quite a bit. It was honestly just what I thought it’d be, which isn’t a bad thing. Not for everyone. It’s pretty weird.

A
I really liked it, & since I'd been doing homework on it for months already, I was ready for it. There was more dialogue & monologuing than I was expecting, & yet that helped breathe life into it. The characters weren't as dire as the premise entails. I hope they get some awards buzz. There will be Blood on a rock of an island.

It really describes the feeling of familiarity that I had watching it. There will be Blood on a rock. And I don’t mean it’s derivative but it’s similar in the intensity with which it delivers human emotions and character development.

I will say that I was nicely surprised that it didn't turn out fully supernatural, or disturbing. I felt like the premise invited angrier characters & more violence, when in turn it was rather fun & electric.
