77% ... ouch!
How low can it go before it can no longer be considered a Best Picture contender?
I sure hope everyone learned a lesson from the embarrassing Wonder Woman debacle and avoids any premature speculation about Joker being Oscar worthy. Things are looking a bit grim at the moment.
The one, and only, superhero movie to have been nominated for Best Picture is also the #1 rated superhero movie on Rotten Tomatoes. That's the bar that has been set. It doesn't look like Joker will be up to it.

Really, Black Panther had 0, zero, nil, rotten reviews by TOP CRITICS. Endgame has only 4 Rotten reviews by Top Critics. Joker already has 10 rotten reviews by Top Critics. Yes, it is already on double digits. Incredible for a movie that two months before release had so much Oscar buzz. So, the ball is at the Academy field.

And I hope we all learned a thing from Suicide Squad that RT scores don't determine Oscar nominations. Or Oscar wins.

Have you bothered actually reading the reviews? Because several of them donāt really even criticize the quality of the film, but rather what they believe it stands for.
By the way, didnāt you claim that Bumblebee would be something that Aquaman would have to worry about?

Have you bothered actually reading the reviews? Because several of them donāt really even criticize the quality of the film, but rather what they believe it stands for.Ā As I write this, there are 21 Rotten reviews. Just about every single one mentions that they think itās bad for our culture and are afraid it might radicalize people. More social/political commentary than actual film reviews. Iām not saying itās going to be good, but it annoys me to no end to see them wag their fingers at DC and WB for having the āaudacityā to make such a movie and be so āinsensitive.ā

But they clearly are more concerned that it might have some kind of ripple effect that in no way could be blamed on a movie anyway.

And I, for one, donāt obligate anyone dare have differing POV than me...but that doesnāt mean I canāt also counter their argument. See Joker for the art alone. I know Iām psyched.Ā Iām not saying that they canāt dislike it. Iām sure it has its own set of problems as any movie does. I just donāt consider the argument, āIt might make some crazy person do something bad in the future, so therefore itās not a good movieā to be a valid criticism of the movie itself. There are some genuine movie reviews that cite problems with the dialogue and story and other actual film issues. Those are real reviews, not social opinion pieces, and theyāre just as valued as a positive review.

And within the minority that is slamming it as such, are the negative reviews that slam it for failures in filmmaking. So the 23% is not solely representative of SJW reviews.Ā My point is donāt let their opinion matter to you. Ā Well I agree with the last part.

At this point, I'm willing to believe all these negative reviews talking about how Joker might harm society and inspire criminals and terrorists are paid marketing by WB meant to hype up the movie. Remember when they pay people to talk about Jared Leto leaving used condoms on the set of Suicide Squad and probably have Leto money to buy a rat to gift to his costars?

I can't believe the reviews are so low for a movie being talked about sooooo much.I'm shocked. That's extremely low for the way people are talking about this movie.

One thing about Joker is that it is tugging at an anxiety that our collective is feeling right now, and that's pretty true to who the Joker is as a character.
