So, in Drive Me Crazy, The Donnas appeared as The Electrocutes. What?? I was young and allowed to see stupid movies. I was gonna get the video of them covering "Keep on Loving You" in the movie, but I'm not really a fan of that, so there's this, which they're famous for:

Allison Anders, she's Gas Food Lodging, I really like that movie. I know that song from Thelma & Louise a few years later for which it was covered by Kelly Willis (who was like 22 at the time):

Are we talking original songs or just any plain old song? Because for an excellent original song, here's Fayray's "VIVA!", off of Mind Game:

Country music is where I will always be rooted, but believe it or not, one of my most favorite movie soundtracks is the one for the first Beverly Hills Cop film. God bless you always!!! Holly

Echo & the Bunnymen cover of People Are Strange by the Doors was pretty cool when I first saw/heard it in the film The Lost Boys (1987)

Holly Oh my gosh, that is such a good one. I was just thinking Oh yeah, Pointer Sisters and then the instrumental "Axel" score music but it's a lot more. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beverly_Hills_Cop_(soundtrack)Whoa, it was number one on Billboard 200 and won a Grammy. Good call! Thank you. You, as well.

I liked that a lot. That reminds me of two other covers made for soundtracks: 1) the Love Spit Love (Psychedelic Furs lead singer's other band) cover of The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" that they recorded for the soundtrack to The Craft, 2) Bangles' version of Simon & Garfunkel's "A Hazy Shade of Winter" for the soundtrack of Less Than Zero. All three are really good. Btw, one or more of the original producers and co are remaking The Craft. Why can't they write new movies??
