The director of the Evil Dead remake and Don't Breathe will serve as the producer. Supposedly it will draw inspiration from the 2018 reboot of Halloween. Oh great, we're in good hands. screencrush.com/texas-chainsaw-massacre-2020/

Since it's going the Halloween 2018 route as a direct sequel to the original, it is a shame Marilyn Burns is no longer with us. I hope they don't recast that role.

Didn’t Texas Chainsaw 3D technically do the same thing, though?

Didn’t Texas Chainsaw 3D technically do the same thing, though? Technically... But only for the first 20 minutes. The rest of the film was present day. It had it's moments but I found it very poor. *Spoilers* sympathy for Leatherface? Heather seemingly going insane and embracing her serial killer brother who just butchered her Friends in a matter of hours? Give me a break

But we are in good hands. The Evil Dead remake is a nonstop barrage of brutality and blood. It's literally a masterpiece. This could be very, very interesting.

That being said, I don’t think it’s as bad as others say it is.
