For my 666th post I thought it would be fun to begin a thread about the original The Omen. It is one of my favorite scary movies. Who else has seen it and what are your thoughts about it?

Good call on the 666th post, very appropriate! The Omen is one of my favorite horror movies, too. Well written, stylish, creepy atmosphere, creative death scenes, and a classic music score. A true product of its time, when people thought society was going to hell in a hand basket in the 70s.

It's not a bad movie at all, just moves too slow and with not much happening for my liking.

Nanny: " Damien!... Damien!... It's all for you!" (The Nanny jumps of the building with a noose around her neck and hangs herself.)

I recall when it came out, me and my friends went to see it and watched it three times in a row.
( addicted to the plate glass scene maybe)
And when we left, I discovered my bike had been stolen.
ANTI-CHRIST!!!
Do you remember the re-make they did of it? Me neither.
Took me a while to find a thread to respond to. Miss the IMDB boards yet?

When it was released, it was The Most Tense, Frightening and Taut horror film to be made. The tension was unbearable, and they did it all without jump scares. Just great pacing, acting and directing. It still holds up pretty well.

The Omen and The Wicker Man are the only two religious-themed horror movies I genuinely love. Easily one of the finest horror flicks of the 70s (or ever)! No surprise it was directed by the great talent known as Richard Donner.

I'd like to see Damien and The Shining's Danny in a three-wheeler race.
