A Stromberg type, elderly mastermind megalomaniac? A Scaramanga/009 darker parallel of Bond? An understated villain more along the lines of Kristatos or Greene? Something totally new?
This is all assuming that the film isn't all about Blofeld's escape and retaliation, which it very well might be. If so, the new villain could be his second in command, or high up SPECTRE member in charge of securing Blofeld's freedom. What say you?

I want a Blofeld type. Old-school Blofeld type with no personal angst being thrown in the audience's face. Just Bond vs Blofeld the way it used to be.
Waltz is more than welcome to come back as Blofeld in that type of role.

I want someone within Blofeld's organization to be the next opponent of Bond.

I like the idea of the villain being blofelds right hand man. Maybe a spectre operative that is equal to Bond similar to Robert Shaw's Red Grant in From Russia With Love.

I do hope they continue using Spectre given the time they spent to re-acquire the rights so I would like for a villain to be either a successor to Blofeld or a second-tier Spectre operative similar to Irma Bunt and Rosa Klebb.

I hope the villain is the new head of SPECTRE. An older villain or maybe someone around Craigs age.

A villain that's grounded in the realm of the Bond universe but still pretty outlandish. Like in the vein of Raoul Silva, Elliot Carver, Alec Trevelyn, or Franz Sanchez.

A gay black guy. Although it will be a long time if ever before we see either a black or gay true villain in a movie. We will see a gay black Bond first.

^ ? Kananga was the villain way back in 1973. And Silva was gay in Skyfall.

Helen Mirren. As a new subversive "M", seeking to remove male operatives from the Secret Service.
I feel bringing this contemporary issue to the table would invigorate the series further than the retro calling of another Blofeld number...

Wint & Kidd were definitely gay in Diamonds Are Forever. Charles Gray sort of set off my gaydar too.
If there's anyone born to be a Bond villain it's Patrick Stewart.
