The foreign titles (e.g. Los Ultimos Jedi) suggest that it is plural, and we thought the debate over singular vs. plural was settled. Then I saw a clip of director Rian Johnson on Good Morning America (?) saying it is singular.

Whoever comes up with the foreign titles probably didn't check, and just assumed that plural makes more sense.

But the thing about that is that Rian says that it means singular because Luke goes off to find the last Jedi temple. That wouldn't even point to Luke as the last Jedi. It suggest that the Last Jedi are the Jedi that were at that temple. And still plural.

It suggest that the Last Jedi are the Jedi that were at that temple. And still plural. Rian also said that the title specifically refers to Luke. Luke is The Last Jedi. The opening crawl to Episode 7 confirms this too.
