.....what would be the FIRST non-essential (i.e., non-essential to living) expense you would cut out (i.e., cable/satellite, internet and/or streaming service, cell phone service, etc., etc.) from your life, and what would be the one non-essential expense that would be the absolute LAST item you would ever give up (and only if it meant you wouldn't have enough for the true essentials, such as food, clothing, rent, electricity, heat, water, etc., etc.) ?? Catman depends on the antics of Miko and Katsura for entertainment these days.

Most people, no matter how dire their situation, will keep their cell phone. I believe people would rather starve to death than not have PornHub.

SAVE FERRIS Entertainment should be the first thing to go. You don't absolutely need that. Especially because much entertainment can be had for free from your local library. Not only books, but music CDs and DVDs of films and television shows are obtainable free-of-charge from most reasonably well-stocked libraries these days. Of course, my experience is mostly with libraries in California, so YMMV. The last thing I'd pitch would be my cell phone--not because I'm absolutely in love with it or because of its entertainment properties--but because it could save my life, or the life of a family member, in the event of an emergency. Next most essential would be my laptop, because as a writer, I find handwriting painfully slow--literally painfully, since typing on a computer keyboard is much easier on my arthritic fingers. Internet service would be hard to give up (for one thing, I'd miss you guys ), but as long as I could continue to use Word, I could deal.

I'm already cutting down by art purchases. Not that I need to but I'm saving the money for something else.

Eating out. Not that I go to very expensive places a lot, but I do eat out several times a week, for convenience, and it adds up.
The last would be Internet access, I guess.
