Martin Scorsese movies haven't been the same ever since he hooked up with di caprio.

In his case he obviously is happy to get the money and marketing advantage that comes with having DiCaprio or Mark Wahlberg. I don't believe he has a choice--the studio tells him who he can use and who he can't. It's too bad he and other filmmakers with clout-public name recognition didn't start their own version of United Artists to get more freedom like Orson Welles and others did with SIMPP (Society of Independent Motion Picture Producers).
There desperately needs to be a new SIMPP.

Francis Ford Coppola, got for The Godfather, in the part of the Sinatra/Damone part (Johnny Fontane) got second-rate Mario Lanza wanna-be Al Martino, reportedly so bad in acting that Coppola let Marlon flat handed smack his cheek as hard as he could. Yet the good Martino made a vocal version of Rota's great theme that helped sell the movie, and maybe they kissed and made up or something since Martino returned in Godfather III.

David Lean saw Christopher Jones in a film (can’t remember which) that convinced Lean to cast him in Ryan’s Daughter. But Lean was unaware that Jones’s voice was dubbed. And their working relationship was a disaster.

And their working relationship was a disaster. I liked Jones actually, His career is a big could've been. His career would have fizzled out. He just had looks, and nothing else. He was troubled as well. He quit the business after only a few years in it.
