Got a rewatch of this gem this morning. It's a 10/10 throughout with a great cast of Carole Lombard, Cary Grant, Kay Francis (and Charles Coburn in a supporting role). Grant and Lombard, usually in comedies and light-hearted films, are both in dramatic roles. Francis plays a negative role, and does so well with great restraint. It could have been a scenery-chewing opportunity with any other actress, but Francis pulls it off with dignity, if a bid underhanded. Pacing is well, story-line probably a bit dated, but it comes off without a hitch, and has a few sob-worthy moments. I just love this film! Catch it if you can! 10/10

This movie does nothing for me. I like Lombard better in comedies. Kay Francis was fabulous when she was adulterously slinky in those drop dead gowns. Cary Grant can do no wrong in anything but this movie was a miss for me.

Not sure I'd go to 10/10 but it is an unexpectedly mature and engrossing marital drama, with Lombard and Grant very effective in their "serious" roles and Francis making an effective bitch - I believe old mate Lombard got her the part as a comeback vehicle to A movies when Kay's Warner Bros contract came to its ignominious end in a run of routine B films.
