in my other thread someone mentioned only 10% watch the channel, so hopefully an alternative comes soon.

I wish Turner hadn't dumped on Cartoon Network and Boomerang. They were great when he was at the helm, especially the promos spoofing other shows like the SURVIVOR franchise. Nowadays, what's aired is fifth-rate garbage! They no longer show those great WB and MGM cartoons of the '30's and early '40's. I especially miss Tex Avery's works; they're a laugh riot.

Yeah, it can't compete with quality crap like the Masked Singer
I can see TCM running ads between movies instead of the shorts. Inevitable.

It's the younger generation that is responsible...
They don't give a shit about anything that is "OLDER" than them...
And they are the ones now running things...
"I've never used/watched that", or "We don't use/watch that anymore", or "No one uses/watches that anymore"
I hear that Bullshit all the time!
And so...
To hell with any of us, that are actually interesting in watching classic movies.
"Bye Bye TCM!"

I wonder how they'd fare in the future financially as people for better or worse move away from cable. Perhaps someone launches a TCM themed streaming service. Netflix did have a solid collection until five, six years ago.

Anyone who's seen me post knows that I'm a big sports fan. But if I had one channel and one only, it would be TCM

As the "someone" on the other thread who cited a 10% figure, I don't want to be the source of any wild rumors, and wish to stress that (as RiP, IMDb correctly sussed) it represented a percentage of only Comcast subscribers. Further, when speculating, "it looks to me like they're on the road to dumping it altogether," I was referring strictly to Comcast, rather than suggesting TCM itself is headed for the rocks. That said, Comcast is the largest U.S. cable provider, reaching roughly a third of American households. And TCM itself, along with other Turner channels, is being folded into the newly-named WarnerMedia as a result of a merger with AT&T earlier this year. At that time, Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara called TCM, "A natural fit with Warner Bros." Just to make things more complicated, Time Warner Cable, Comcast's closest competitor, has been owned by Charter Communications since 2016, as an entirely separate entity from the Warner corporate structure. So: the future of TCM? I'd say anybody's guess. Safe under the Warner umbrella? Possible. A vulnerable pawn in a battle between media giants? Also possible. This much seems certain: there's no advantage to Comcast in TCM's success or even survival. That'll be entirely up to WarnerMedia and their business model.

Warner Archives had/has a podcast which is really good. I could only listen to a couple because it was a pain to run on my computer but they really had some knowledgeable hosts. One of these days I need to check out their Mickey Rooney interview show.

I think George Clooney’s dad was the host. Possible. A network that is already on all the platforms is a valuable commodity. It's why the History Channel is no longer history. The channel was lagging so it went to these dorky reality shows that cost half a buck to make but draw in the Great Unwashed who would rather watch some idiot sell his crap than learn something.
