Avengers: Infinity War has a reputation of having one of the most horrifying film endings of all time. Are there films that arguably have more horrifying ending than this? If so, why?

The Mist (2007). So basically Frank Castle killed his family and friends for nothing.

Avengers: Infinity War has a reputation of having one of the most horrifying film endings of all time. Uncoventional or daring for a blockbuster, yes, but never heard it described as one of the most horrifying film endings of all time.

Buried with Ryan Reynolds.
In fact after watching it years ago, I find myself hard pressed to watch it again even though I'd like to.

I think Infinity War ending got more infamy because it belongs in a popular film franchise AND the way it happened was so shocking.

I suppose Terminator 3 could be another, where they fail to stop the Nukes and billions of people end up dying. They at least don't come back either.

The Vanishing (1988).
Not the dumb ass American remake which changed the ending because that's America for you, but the original released in the Netherlands.

Geronimo: An American Legend. Arguably the most depressing film ever. Every main character is imprisoned or killed, or in the case of the US officers who actually tried to peacefully resolve the conflict, disgraced by the military. The fictional character (who acts as the audience's window to the story) played by Matt Damon is so disillusioned he quits the army. It's worse than Endgame because this is stuff that actually happened.

Requiem for a Dream had quite the downer of an ending though it was a rather small scale compared to IW

Requiem for a Dream had quite the downer of an ending though it was a rather small scale compared to IW That film had what I'd consider a horrifying ending, no matter what the scale.

It is slightly less horrifying than the ending of Martyrs. Only slightly.
