In case someone's spamming, is an idiot or for whatever other reason: click on the user's name, in the upper right corner click the little gear symbol next to the send message icon and voila, 4 options/levels of blockdom.

Wait a minute. What happened to the block threads option?

Wait a minute. What happened to the block threads option? There's such an option? That would be really good too.

There was such an option. Now it seems to be gone.

The admins here definitely needs to fix that as that 'xfiles' person (who's 'xfiles24'/'xfiles25'/'xfiles26' currently) is spamming the Film General part of the boards (creating a billion topics and always complaining about 'gay' stuff etc. just acting like a child and i don't need to see his BS) and even after you block that persons accounts their threads are still shown which normally would NOT even be displayed after i blocked them on IMDb which is the way it should be here.
that needs to be fixed ASAP!
p.s. also, i can't even seem to find the part of the boards that shows who i have blocked so far either. where is this located? EDIT: i found where it's located which is... Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy. then scroll down the page and you will see blocked users. but it still only has four options to block and i checked all four of them but still the threads they create remain and just spam/clutter the Film General etc boards. this definitely needs to be fixed by the admins.

@ onethreetwo ; but that's the thing... the block does not work all that well as threads they create are still there instead of being completely hidden like they should be like it is on IMDb when you block a person. it removes a lot of the clutter on the forums especially when someone spams the place like those xfiles accounts are doing quite heavily. it's ruining the forums basically.

I have this plugin installed: User Blockable ThreadsWhen you block someone, go to Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy and scroll down to the bottom. There you will see the list of members you have blocked, each with an additional checkbox that for whatever reason, doesn't show in the initial block options: "Block this member's threads."

Do we have to install that ourselves? Because I don't see the block threads box when I go to edit profile > privacy. No, you do not have to install it yourselves. Are you using an odd or outdated browser by chance?

No, you do not have to install it yourselves. Are you using an odd or outdated browser by chance? Hmm. I don't think so. I'm using Google Chrome. Hmm. Could you try a different browser and let me know if it works? It may be that the developer didn't include support for Chrome, and if so he needs to be aware so he can update it.

Hmm. Could you try a different browser and let me know if it works? It may be that the developer didn't include support for Chrome, and if so he needs to be aware so he can update it. I tried Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, but neither changed anything. I thought it could be my Ad-blocker so I turned it off, but that didn't work either. It's working fine for me on Firefox, IE, and Opera. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what the problem may be. I'm not a plugin developer, I just install them. I do know that ProBoards is planning on updating soon, so maybe they'll provide us with a better blocking system that doesn't require a plugin for this. In the meantime, you could try asking the developer himself what's up. Those guys on the support boards are pretty active and very helpful. support.proboards.com/thread/536554/user-blockable-threads

Admin ; thanks for the response. and it appears once you did that it works site wide for ALL of us. BUT... people need to completely reload the website to get it working which on Pale Moon x64 (and i assume Firefox (and probably Chrome to)) you can simply hold SHIFT (i used left shift key) and then press the REFRESH option with your mouse pointer (which forces your browser to reload all data from the internet instead of your browser cache) and then the 5th option appears instead of just the four of them. onethreetwo ; i think i got a fix for you as i just figured out how to get ADMIN's fix working for us... you simply need to reload everything on this website from scratch which on Pale Moon x64 (and i assume Firefox (and probably Chrome to(assuming Chrome's forced reloading of data online and not from browser cache is the same as Firefox and variations))) hold down the SHIFT key and press the REFRESH and then the "Block this member's threads." appears! NOTE: once this works you should only have to do that once and it should be good unless some other changes occur and regular reloads of random page here don't seem to give you certain options/function etc when it should. but basically in general... if your visiting a random website and certain things don't display properly or other odd glitches a forced reload of all of that websites page data (i.e. Shift+Reload(or Refresh)) usually fixes things. i would assume even though your using Chrome it will likely work because i also could not see the 5th option "Block this member's threads." until i forced my browser to reload everything from that page and then it appeared. i am sure Chrome has a similar function to Pale Moon x64 (Firefox) in this regard and i would imagine it's the same but if not i am sure there is a way to do it on Chrome. but i just don't like Chrome because it's a RAM hog unlike Firefox/Pale Moon x64. Pale Moon x64 has been my browser of choice for years now but it would be safer for me to recommend Firefox to you over Pale Moon x64 since Firefox is a major browser where as Pale Moon x64 is not (i.e. your probably less likely to have issues with Firefox than Pale Moon x64 over a wide range of sites basically). with that said... Chrome seems to be easily the widest used browser though, and by a wide margin, from looking around online for browser statistics. Chrome is basically good i just don't like the fact it burns up your system RAM compared to Firefox and variations and this is especially true if your like me who leaves the browser running for days/weeks and with many tabs open as my browser almost never exceeds 2GB of RAM (currently floating around 1.2-1.3GB) where as in that same scenario with Chrome i am sure it would be well over that and it's not like my system is low on RAM either as i got 8GB which is more than enough for general use. but for those with 4GB or less of RAM i would definitely recommend Firefox over Chrome. p.s. i am using 'Pale Moon x64' for my browser, which is basically like Firefox.

mslo79I'm glad to hear you got it working because it's the best we can do right now. Here's to hoping for better blocking capabilities in PB v6. Thanks for figuring that out and for letting others know.

Thanks for figuring that out and for letting others know. Yeah we need an update to make the boards feel more contemporary. Right now they feel very 2000s

Admin ; Yeah, i was aware of the forced reload function of browsers for years (as i have to use it from time to time) but i did not expect that it would fix it here but after i was reading into the plugin info i started thinking that it might work as it appears once you load the plugins for these forums, which only the ADMIN can do, i figured it should work for all on the boards and then that came to mind and *BAM* as soon as i did that on the page that shows the blocked users i can instantly see the 5th option now to hide all of the threads from blocked users instead of just four before you did what you did with the plugin.

onethreetwo ; you said, "Thank you! I tried it and it worked right away. You're awesome!" Yeah, i thought it would given it worked for me as even though my browser is different then yours that function is something that's not limited to one browser. p.s. on a side note: it's 7:29pm here on the 19th and i noticed IMDb already pulled the plug on the forums. they jumped the gun as it's not even the 20th yet.

They shut down the boards down British time, making it the 20th. Seems obvious now that that would happen but didn't see anyone mention that possibility when the closure was announced.

Once somebody is blocked does that mean they can't see your posts as well? Thanks No, I believe they can still see your posts.
