Think he's going to the Yanks? I do.ย They want him, they've passed on big ticket free agent pitchers in recent years and they view him as the one piece they need to put it all together and get past the Astros.ย They'll spend obnoxiously for him.ย ย ย I discount the Angels interest because other than Trout they talk a big game and never sign anyone. Yankees or Dodgers, though without looking it up the Dodgers HAVE to be in the luxury tax range right?

As of right now, they have approximately $43m of space (about $86m before they're in draft-pick penalty territory) but that's with estimating the 2020 salaries of arbitration eligible players (Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Max Muncy and Corey Seager just to name a few). I'd imagine locking up Bellinger before he puts up another MVP season would be a priority, right now spotrac is estimating his salary at $11.6m, Joc at $8.5m and Max Muncy at $4.6m. They're paying Scott Kazmir $8m this year, how cute.

Saw one hypothetical trade where if the Dodgers went after Lindor, Muncy would be a part of the deal.

Apparently the Phillies are interested in Kris Bryant of the Cubs. Bryant still has his appeal with the Cubs over service time so I'd imagine they'd wait til that got resolved before determining his value. Find this an odd pairing though because isnt the Phillies farm system pretty lackluster atm? Unless the Cubs are looking for major league talent in return.

Jon Heyman reports there's a 'mystery team' looking at Gerrit Cole. The Yomiuri Giants? Who had them in the pool?

Yankees reportedly offered Cole a "record deal", surpassing what Strasburg got.

Right now, I would be shocked if Cole doesn't sign with the Yankees.

Phillies sign SS Didi Gregorius, 1 year $14 million. Great, another name I have to look up to spell.

Giants may be losing Madison Bumgarner, but fans can rest a little easier now as they just signed someone named Kevin Gausman to a one year contract.
I know I've heard the name Kevin Gausman at some point in the last few years, but damned if I know who he is.
He must have pitched for the O's at some point, I might need nuts to help me out with this.

Phillies sign SS Didi Gregorius, 1 year $14 million. Great, another name I have to look up to spell. I'm curious how they're going to fill out the rest of the infield. So many possibilities. Could move Segura to 2nd. Or move him for pitching help and put Kingery at 2nd which was supposed to be his everyday position coming up. Segura and Kingery could also be moved to 3rd since Franco is gone but to me that's just a stop gap until Bohm is ready. I'm hoping for one of those big splashes (i.e. Rendon, maybe a trade for KB if his contract situation gets ironed out, Donaldson and a short term deal until Bohm is ready). Was reading Kingery could also be the everyday CF now. I really hope with a new manager/hitting coach (I know Charlie came on at the end of last year) - Rhys fixes his swing and we hold onto him and don't flip him for pitching help which was rumored by Salisbury.

I guess the Angels think that Rendon can pitch?
I will say, glad this off-season is moving faster than last years snore fest

Weekend college starter who could jump to the bigs fast. But the Oโs sent him too fast and ruined him. The college arms are beginning to go bad. Matt Harvey, Mark Appel, Gausman. Too many innings in college

Brew Crew sign pitcher Josh Lindblom to a 3 year deal for $9 million with some incentives tied in.
Lindy was 20-3 with a 2.50 ERA last year - (eat that Gerrit Cole) - for the Dooshan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization.
