I forget what his exact user name was, but that guy who was known as the Hermit. He was famous for posting celebrity birthday wishes, even for obscure actors. Anyway, it's been said he passed away as well. I think I remember him. If I can recall, he'd wish porn stars happy birthday. I knew he had died, but I forgot his name. Is there any truth to the rumor that Aperilla died, or is that just bullshit?

How in the heck do you or did you find out if they died? Through mutual friends with Apollo, Clubriddick and Irate; Ceramic, yoyoofloco and Cloud were all over the Soapbox, as was with StKildan whose death also made the news in Scotland... I made a lot of friends across many IMDb boards over a decade of posting and general conversing with others, plus I liked to have a look around every board I visited and note other people's interactions etc etc. Hope this answers your question.

After reading all these names it makes you wonder about all the other anons we’ve all encountered over the years who’ve vanished but we’ll never know whether or not they stopped posting because they died. That's true. There are at least five big name regs I know of from a couple different boards that are probably dead, but since I don't know their current status I won't list them as dead. One such example is Flippo from the Video Game board. He had a troubled home life, and tbh was a bit disturbed, but was an otherwise popular regular from Texas. Somehow his very strict parents kept hacking his accounts from IMDb to Xbox Live and deleting them, and due to the nature of his IMDb accounts he never had one for too long. He disappeared from all forms of social media in January 2010 and never returned. Given that nothing could keep him from IMDb despite countless deletions, his disappearance was really out of character, and remains so to this very day.

These are mostly from The Passion of the Christ board or Religion board. All males except ajaj1828. ajaj1828 - 2007 - terminal illness DiLeo - 2008 - terminal illness (18 years old) DAdvocate - 2011 - heart attack PulpFiction94 - 2012 - car crash jetstocanada aka jetstobrazil - 2014 - heart attack brandon1965 aka waylonsguitar aka Cash aka theoncomingstorm - 2018 - stroke How in the heck do you or did you find out if they died? I spend way too much more time here than I should. This place is not so important to me that I'll leave instructions for someone to let you all know of my demise if it happens while I'm an active poster. Calm down, calm down. Some people are not frightened of other messageboard users and make contact with them off the boards. Some people even meet up with fellow users. Ain't that crazy?

It's sad to think that people you've interacted with might have died and you don't have a clue. Especially when it's by suicide.

It seems strange to me that people actually know each other well enough here to meet in real life. Not crazy, but strange. Even talking in pm is strange to me. I guess that means I'm the strange one. A few even end up living together.

Dusty, who was a Classic Film Board frequenter. He was apparently caring for his ill mother, and when she passed away he made some posts saying he had nothing left to go on for, and was going to commit suicide. Others tried to talk him out of it, but his depression won out and he did, I'm told, end his life. This was not too very long before the old boards came to an end, but I don't recall the exact date.
Saddening, to know someone means to do this, and to realize there's nothing really to be done to stop or dissuade them from the act.

A few even end up living together. Do you know a lot of people that met on boards like this and are now together? I know of three couples from Soapbox but I don’t know if they’re still together (one of the people died).

does anyone remember these guys or know if they are still alive? or not?
FudSlush - I think I said his name right he was an old imdb board member he posted mostly on the soapbox. music boards and a few other sections. he was a prick from what I remember
JokerIt - spent most of his time trolling the Michael myers boards
there was another guy on there by the name of TakeFlight - that was like FudSlush kind of a prick . we both got into a heated argument two-three years before the boards closed and I said something along the lines of "You may claim to be better looking and more intelligent than me. but I can probably go out and find some good pussy and get laid quicker than you" I hurt his ego after that and he put me on ignore and quit sending me PM

I saw his suicidal declaration on Film General, it was in January 2017, just before the announcement of the shutdown. I forgot about him.
