But here's the catch - You only get 5 sides to go along with the bird - and rolls and dessert count as a sides. I'm going: Turkey Stuffing Mashed Potatoes Sweet Potatoes Asparagus Corn Peas, carrots and pumpkin pie has lost out and did not make the final cut. Go!

Stuffing, Sweet Potatoes and Green Bean Casseroles are musts for me. So normally I wouldn't go with rolls, but my wife makes these fresh-baked rosemary dinner rolls that are a thousand times better than they have any right to be. Throw in a freshly baked pumpkin pie and I have everything I need.

Throw in a freshly baked pumpkin pie and I have everything I need. Sweet. Your wife makes rolls from scratch? Like gets one of those old school rolling pins out? Hold onto her. That she does. She refers to herself as a "hobby baker" and as she works from home 2x per week (going to 3x starting 1/1), she occupies her idle time by baking, learning new recipes/techniques, etc. Those dinner rolls are insane, and of her desserts she makes these golden graham-marshmallow-chocolate concoctions (basically chocolate rice krispy treats but with golden grahams instead of rice krispies) that are incredible. The marshmallows are also made from scratch. Her best work, however, are these pumpkin spiced cupcakes with maple frosting. She'll make them for the holidays so they come to our Friendsgiving, and to our 2 family thanksgivings that we attend. Holy shit, they are absurd and every year, they fly off the plate. Easily the best thing she makes and I'm not much of a sweets/dessert guy. She says its easy, I dunno, she makes the entire thing from scratch.

The must haves are turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy. I don't think gravy was a choice so I'll just figure that doesn't count towards the 5 and it goes without saying.... my mom used to make these creamed pearl onions which are spectacular, and go perfectly on the next day Thanksgiving leftovers sandwich, which is the best part anyway.
I'd probly go with something green, typically sprouts or green beans, but I think you gotta include a dessert. My wife makes the best pecan pie in the world (also from scratch), and while it's not my go to dessert, it's perfect for Thanksgiving.

I was going to make gravy and your drink (beer, wine, water - what have you) as well as spices (including salt and pepper) - a side as well - but it's the Holidays and I didn't want to be a complete Scrooge

spaghetti and canned hot dogs? what genius came up with this? I noticed the 'protein' label on the can - at times I fool myself into thinking hot dogs are healthy (like bacon and sausage) but I think they're filled with sodium and nitrates.

Just open the can and grab a spoon. No need to heat the fuckers up. Y'all will be doing dishes for hours, I'll use a plastic spoon, throw it away and the day will be mine.

I chose the following
Stuffing Mashed potatoes Green bean casserole Cranberry sauce Rolls
My mother won't like me saying this, but having the stuffing she makes every year, cranberry sauce going with it is a must.

Pretty dry stuffing eh? I tend to drown my stuffing in gravy. Ever try stuffing with sausage in it? Good stuff

I'm fine with sweet potatoes or yams, more turkey (dark meat!), and more turkey.
But I'll add ice cream and pecan pie.

I don't know if anybody else here has 'GIANT Supermarkets' in their corridor of the world - but if you racked up enough PTs over the year - you got a free turkey. Just picked up my free 20 lber to have a little pre-Thanksgiving feast before the big day Can't get enough turkey this time of year. If anybody has WAWAs around their vicinity - the 'Turkey Gobbler' is a must - long roll with cranberry sauce, stuffing, turkey and gravy
