Hard to choose the best ๐ค
To narrow it down to four most memorable:
King Kurt at Bristol Bierkeller (just absolute chaos).
The Wonder Stuff at Gloucester Leisure Centre (first gig with new girlfriend I was madly in love with at the time).
The Blue Chickens at the Axiom Arts Centre Cheltenham (got beaten up).
The Damned at Bath Pavilion (they were shite, Captain Sensible walked off because everyone spat at him, and a guy off his nut walking round the audience waving a knife at people).

Probably can narrow it down to two or three, though I havenโt been to a huge number of concerts. Nine Inch Nails on the With Teeth tour in Richmond, VA, or The Rolling Stones - either Bridges to Babylon in Philly or A Bigger Bang in Charlottesville (yes the show with the bomb threat).

Man, so tough to choose just one.
Radiohead at Liberty State Park in NJ, late August 2001. With the lower Manhattan skyline as the backdrop, this show was about 3 weeks before 9/11. It was an incredible show to begin with, but the time period will always stand out.
Tool, Roseland Ballroom (NYC) April, 1994
Underworld, Greek Theater (LA), late summer 2002.
David Bowie, Jones Beach Amphitheater, summer 2003.
Nine Inch Nails, tough to pick one among so many great performances, but I'll go with when I saw them on the Lights in the Sky Tour at the Prudential Center in NJ, August 2008.
Leftfield, closing out Coachella 2011 at our own little private dance party for 200 or so of us, while 80,000 dimwits flocked over to see Kanye. There have been countless brilliant sets I've seen at festivals - AC/DC, Franz Ferdinand, Bjork, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Gramatik, Gesafelstein, Justice - so many variables go into making one set stand out against others, be it the time of the day, the weather, if it's too packed, sound issues with the particular stage/setup, etc.
Roger Waters, Nassau Coliseum in October (I think), 2010. He just played The Wall. It was one of the most moving things I've ever seen live.

So many concerts, so many good shows.
I was a Deadhead, I saw the Grateful Dead over 50 times, the top 5 for me were
7/16/90 8/17/91 12/28/91 2/23/93 6/2/95
I've seen Neil Young in various configurations about 30 times, the best were probably
1991 with Crazy Horse after Social Distortion and Sonic Youth- still the loudest night of music I've experienced.
1993 with Booker T and the MGs
2010 at the Bridge School benefit where the Buffalo Springfield performed for the first time in 40 years.
I was at the Bill Graham memorial in 1991 at the Golden Gate Park: Grateful Dead, CSNY, Santana, Journey, Tracy Chapman, Robin Williams
I saw Pink Floyd in 1994 on the Division Bell tour.
I saw Paul McCartney at the final event ever held at Candlestick Park.
I saw Rush on the Signals tour in 1985.
I saw Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck play together in 2013, a very unique show.
I personally played a few coffeehouses and busked in downtown Santa Cruz over the years, those were always great concerts for those that paid attention ๐

I always thought the best concert I ever went to was a rock n roll one. But then I heard our symphony play Beethoven's Ode To Joy. That blew away everything I had ever heard live up to that point. There is never anything that can ever top classical music. It really is the best of all time.

What does Johnny Bench have to do with Billy Joel and why is he wearing that hat?

I saw that Roger Waters tour in Hartford, and again when expanded it for a stadium sized scale the following year (2 years later?) at Yankee stadium. It's my default answer for best concert I've ever seen. There's concert movie of the stadium tour that does a pretty good job of capturing the show.

If I remember correctly, and there's every chance I don't, I was on the field about halfway back on the 1st base side.

On the right side of the field, all the way on the end but fairly close to the stage. I distinctly remember some short, boisterous fellow behind me who insisted on talking to his friend about how much he loves fishing for the whole concert. Because that's what I want to do at a Roger Waters show - scream into the ear of the person to me so we can talk about fishing.

But it's fun to imagine that it was us. Though I think we were maybe middle of the pack rather than all the way at the end. We also had tickets to the 'Legends club' for dinner before the show because a friend of mine was in charge of the security there at the time. So if you were also there and there was also the same short boisterous chap, then maybe it was us!
