Not much change this week. Except Dallas and Houston flipped, Atlanta and Carolina flipped, and the Raiders and Steelers flipped.
(My Power Rankings are generally based on 50% how they played this week. And 50% overall record. In other words, they change every week.)
BEST TEAMS 1) Baltimore Ravens - two impressive wins over the Seahawks and Patriots. And they keep on rolling. (8-2) 2) Seattle Seahawks - went into San Francisco and beat the previously undefeated 49ers. (8-2) 3) San Francisco 49ers - finally played a good team --- and lost. (9-1) 4) New England Patriots - the only reason they are in the top 4 is because they are the reigning world champions. And they are 9 and 1.
GOOD TEAMS 5) Green Bay Packers 6) New Orleans Saints 7) Minnesota Vikings 8) Kansas City Chiefs 9) Dallas Cowboys 10) Houston Texans 11) Buffalo Bills 12) Indianapolis Colts - These teams are good enough to beat anybody. But most have problems with consistency. Or a glaring weakness. All serious contenders for playoff spots.
MEDIOCRE TEAMS Falcons, Rams, Eagles, Panthers, Bears, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Lions Raiders, Steelers, Jaguars, Titans, Chargers, Browns, Broncos - Some of these teams may catch fire at some point this season. Or they may be loaded with talent. But right now they are either struggling, or inconsistent.
BAD TEAMS Giants, Redskins Dolphins, Jets, Bengals - These teams aren't going anywhere this year.
What do you think?

I could see moving the Chargers up in front of the Raiders. But really, they are playing better. But they are still losing.

The 6-4 Raiders are a half game out of first and you have them as mediocre. The 5-5 Steelers you have as good? Mmmkay....

I believe all 12 of the top teams would be in the playoffs if they started today.

Today on Deep Thoughts with movieliker… Nope. They have the playoff spots determined by their records. Oh, is that how it works? I thought the public got to vote in online Power Rankings.

So you’re saying that the teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended today are the “best teams” and all the other teams are somewhere below that? Isn’t that just standings?

What better way to decide who the better teams are? You can be the "best team" in the history of the world. But if you aren't winning . . .

Which is untrue. Only the wild card is determined by record. And the division winners are determined how, by the average cup size of their cheerleaders? You're misunderstanding me. Division winners are determined by the division itself while the wild card is overall. Even playoff seedings aren't done by record. Playoffs, overall, have never been determined by record hence sub .500 teams making the playoffs(both moved on to the divisional round). Personally I'd like to see NFL playoffs move to a record base system. In 2008, the Chargers got hot at the right time and passed Denver for the AFC West title at 8-8. Meanwhile, the Patriots win 11 games and missed the playoffs. Fun Fact: My Cardinals are the only team in NFL history to win 10 games twice and miss the playoffs(1976/2013).

Just screen shot the standings every week to achieve the same result. I also love how you justify putting the defending world champ 9-1 Patriots on there like they do not belong for some reason. Really, if they played a playoff game against anyone in the NFL, would they not be the favorites?

Really, if they played a playoff game against anyone in the NFL, would they not be the favorites? I don't think they would be favored against Baltimore. And according to NFL analysts, there are other teams who would be favored against New England right now.
