So you’re saying that the teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended today are the “best teams” and all the other teams are somewhere below that? Isn’t that just standings? Actually, the #3 and 4 teams have a better record than the #1 and 2 teams. So, so much for just standings.

Fun Fact: My Cardinals are the only team in NFL history to win 10 games twice and miss the playoffs(1976/2013). Well, the OP is a fan of a team who won ELEVEN games and missed the playoffs! Which one? Happened twice.

The Eagles weren't that far away from the Pats. Either you lower them, or rise the Eagles. A victory against the Cowboys will also put them on par with the Cowboys in the division table (the tie-brake put aside) and the division berth is open again. I would shift them in the lower half of the group with the Cowboys.
