Especially on music videos.
The comment sections have turned into calender's.
For example:
Anyone watching this in November 2019 ? Anyone watching this in May 2019 ? Anyone watching this in 2018 ? Anyone watching this in 2017 ?
You get the idea. The comment sections are filled with them now.

Then there are the creepy comments drooling over the singer or singers in the videos.

What I find most annoying are those lame attempts at getting likes.

I love those arguments where you don’t know who’s responding to whom because there’s only 1 expandable level of sub-replies, so they get all jumbled up.

Yeah there's really not a lot of intelligent discussion in the YouTube comments.

There are some long-form analysis videos with decent rebuttals or commentary but your average video is just going to have garbage. I personally get annoyed by the " X brought me here" comments where X is a movie, game, YouTube personality, or what have you, far more. It's like, alright... fist-bump bro. You're part of the in-crowd. Have you anything to add? Still, I'd rather have the comment section than not.

I've often found the comments sections on YouTube videos are a lot like Mos Eisley spaceport.

I like a song so I decide to look at the comment section to see what people think of it and every goddamn comment is a joke/attempt at getting likes! Fuck!

My favorite videos to watch are the cooking demonstrations/recipes. On the whole, those comments are pretty good. Most people ask the chef to clarify something (not butter). Or, they suggest alternative methods, or ingredients.
I don't often read comments on things like music, or other entertainment videos.

I use YouTube comment sections to get in big arguments with people including the creator of the video.
the comments on music videos I find the weirdest are the ones that are like "my dad died today."
I'm thinking and your first thought was to come on YouTube and leave a comment? people are creepily obsessed with getting likes on YouTube and the funny thing is it means absolutely nothing. I once had a comment that got over 4,000 likes it didn't improve my life in any way and I didn't get any subscribers.

I've never noticed that. I just went back and randomly checked comments on various songs and I'm not seeing that at all. You should link an example. Scroll down a bit and you'll find one...

It was pretty cute and funny the first few times around, but yeah these kinds of comments have gotten very unoriginal and stupid now.

Scroll down a bit and you'll find one... I dunno, most are like these. I don't get what the OP is complaining about. JDP Trooper I edited out out the ones that don’t mention 2019. It does annoy me as much as it annoys the OP but I have mentioned more than a few comments where people feel compelled to mention when they watched the video.

The youtube comments... you will find no greater hive of scum and villainy, or poor spelling and grammar.
