Anyway, I still believe Raimi's Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 are the best Spider-Man introduction films you can ask for. Tobey was on his way to being a wonderful, multi-dimensional Peter Parker... unlike Garfield and especially this new kid. And Spider-Man 2 is the best solo superhero movie ever made so far... IMO. Second only two X-Men: DOFP as the best CBM ever. And I love the idea of introducing Tobey's Spider-Man into the MCU instead of this child. Just pick up where we left off... after Spider-Man 3 unfortunately.

Jesus. For someone who didn't like Raimi's Spider-Man, you sure did put a lot of time into that post. Never half-ass anything.

Thanks for the daily dosage of xenophobia. Moving on... Huh? Do you even know what xenophobia means? How was he in any way whatsoever being xenophobic??? It's the fear of absolutely anything different or new. He feels that way towards any new actors or any other ways of doing things other than how Raimi did it.
That's being xenophobic.

Uh, ok. It usually applies to foreign people/cultures. Anyway, all he said was he liked Raimi's Spidey movies and isn't a fan of the other incarnations. Nothing wrong with that. It's an opinion shared by many.

Bump, because I want this thread to still exist when Homecoming comes out and I'm put to the task of keep it as part of a second Maguire-Spidey trilogy.

Speaking of homecoming there could have been a film with a retired peter and his teen-age daughter. Call Spider-Girl(or woman): Homecoming. Peter could take on tony role with may trying to prove herself.

Still, having Stark find Mayday Parker living the adult versions of Maguire's Pete and Dunst's MJ would have worked just as well. Pete could have refused to let Mayday participate, but she sneaks off to help Tony bring in the Anti-Accords side, anyway.

I wonder if they are taking some pointers from Raimi's first two on the action in Homecoming. I've really been studying what makes a great action movie, and Raimi really nailed it in the first two.
He kept almost everything in-camera and allowed the CGI and practical sets/effects to mesh. The takes are longer than usual and in wide angles. Stunts and clever camera tricks created two great action movies, not just superhero movies. I hope Homecoming does the same.

Raimi was a master of superhero action. No quick cuts or chaotic editing. A great blend of real sets, real locations and good cgi. Minimal green screen. No goddamn obnoxious shaky cam. I think Jon Faverau does a great job with action in much the same way. But Raimi is still the king. Other directors should study those scenes in Spiderman 2, especially the one on the train.

It really is the perfect middle-ground between the ultra-realistic action of The Dark Knight and the over-the-top action of The Winter Soldier or The Avengers. I'm glad someone else appreciates his brilliance in action!

Well, now that I've seen Homecoming, its time to figure out how my alternative sixth Spidey film would have gone. Will post the whole thing when I do.

... I don't think we would have gotten Raimi as the director
I suspect he would have bowed out & someone else would have directed.
With Spidey & X-Men (if Marvel had its own studio, it wouldn't have sold the licenses for either.), we probably would not have been forced into using Iron man or Thor.
We would have Hulk & Cap. Maybe Iron Man Probably no Ant-Man. Probably Dr Strange Probably no GotG

I said this was a "happy" alternative universe, not a realistic.

We might have gotten the 15 yr old Spidey, not the college version. We might have gotten something more like homecoming, yet not because Vulture wouldn't have been cleaning up after the Chitauri There's a Queensryche line-don't look back, it's just a waste of time. I look at that as a regret thing. I would listen to my folks "if only we had" so much. Doesn't matter. They didn't. If only is a waste of time. There is only what we have & what we can make of it.

You can't guarantee they would hold the exact same views with additional information
