In a uni Philosophy course on religion course I took, secularism was recognized as a system of religious thought.
Theism--a material universe encircled by a deity
Secularism--a material universe encircled by nothing else
Mysticism--a concrete universe which may be encircled by one or more deities but since any claim of an absolute can be questioned, there would need to be a circle around it that is labelled mystery.
Ironically Theism and Secularism were closer to each other than Mysticism since they made concrete assumptions about reality and existence while Mystic religions ultimately deferred to the idea that the ultimate cannot be known.

Funnily enough I rate FSM as a better religion than scientology. I mean scientology is a cult and a really insidious one too I can see why Germany dont recognise them. How about Wicca. Do you prefer FSM to Wicca? How about between Wicca & Scientology? Wicca is a bit hippy dippy for me, but it is actually a belief system, and is not exploitative like Scientology.

The thing is, Lowtacks, this particular atheist group wanted to be recognized as a religion. Well, yeah I'm assuming for the tax free status The U.S. allows tax exempt (501 (c) 3) status to (A) Atheist Community of Austin, (B) Freedom from Religion Foundation, (C) John Oliver's Church of Perpetual Exemption and probably several others.

Well, nobody is marching atheists into church, synagogue, temple, or any other place of worship. to my knowledge. No, but you are insisting that US law follow Christian law. That the Bible come before the Constitution. That Christians have special exemptions that others don't. Things like that. The Atty General of the US has damned secularists in public using veiled threats. The Judge Roy Moore, the child fiddler of Alabama wanted 10 Commandment statue in his courthouse. Christians are free to worship, but not impose anything on any citizen that does not want it. Keep your "Christian" version of idol worship and witchcraft out of my government. Why would I care about US law? I'm a Canadian, & this story I shared took place in Canada.
