Just read that. One of my favourite bands. I knew she never really recovered fully from her cancer - I think she had problems with her memory as a result which meant they couldn't perform live anymore. Very sad.

I knew she had been very ill for a long time (since the 90's) , but I had kept up with Roxette , and they had just announced they were doing a new album , a month or so back , if I'm right . Here are some songs , my favorites , as a tribute ..

R.I.P. Marie Fredriksson. In a sad coincidence, I just happened to buy this album from Roxette today. I hadn't learned of her passing until after I'd bought the album (I'd been meaning to buy it for some time, but had just never gotten around to it/had forgotten to). Some of my favourite songs from the band: 'Joyride' 'Dressed For Success' 'Dangerous' 'It Must Have Been Love' 'Listen To Your Heart' 'Run To You' And I'm sure I'll discover some new favourites too when listening to this^ album.

Oh, you see, I only had their greatest hits, and hadn't played it for a long time - but this song "Crash! Boom! Bang!", I now remember playing and playing, it is a wonderfully poignant ballad with a beautiful sad air about it. Now I am playing it again and I'll tell you, if you have suffered an emotional break-up it will hit you hard, from the quivering opening intro through the rousing journey of the track, the simplicity and earthiness of it - why use a thousand words when a hundred will fit? It's to the point, not a clever or contrived love song, just a heartfelt ode to heartache. It can take its proud place alongside 'It Must Have Been Love' as a sensational ballad - for many ears, including my own, it is even more touching - less commercial-sounding but with a super melody, instrumentation, vocal, lyric and even title : Crash! Boom! Bang! indeed!. Wonderful to hear it again now.

I was never a big fan, but I like The Look. The material wasn't that great but she had a great voice.
