So I'll admit, this post piqued my curiosity enough to download the Days app and watch this web-series.... God, this is awful..... It's almost painful to watch.
I mean, it's surreal enough watching one of the behind the scenes videos where they're talking about how long it's been and like, half of them weren't even there for "the last blast".
The stock footage of New York is semi-impressive, but has more of a sitcom vibe going; where I half expected a voice over saying "Last Blast Reunion was filmed in front of a live audience". And that drawn out moment of Philip walking in for the first time, I'm surprised there wasn't a canned track of an audience applauding.
Nu-Kevin looks exactly
nothing like the original actor. I actually had to look it up to see if I was picturing the right person. The recast for Mimi is alright; she might be more passable for Farah Fath than Farah Fath. It kind of bugs me how glammed up they all are; especially for a reunion of a whopping seven people.
Some of the flashbacks were fun to watch, like the highlight reel of Philip and Chloe's relationship (still a die-hard Broe fan though....
), but other flashbacks, like all the affairs involving Philip, were painful to watch; along with all the discussions of said affairs. The flashback to the dance where the crowd was chanting ghoul girl until she took off her cloak and let her hair down, and Belle starts leading them in applause......that was bad. That was so cheesy.
During their party montage, were they chanting "ghoul girl" when egging Chloe on to chug her beer?
How the hell much beer did seven people drink that a
business that brews their own beer, has run out of beer and they need to send someone to get more??
And naturally one is apt to reminisce about all the serial killers from your hometown; which coincidentally precedes people being murdered.....
I think they were trying to setup two possible suspects -
Jason, with them establishing how much of a hothead he was and trying to borrow money from Kevin, only to be turned down. And Susan, with her mentioning how she's been getting migraines lately.
But I'm going to go with
Jan, since they went to the trouble of acknowledging her being in a coma,
but
Heather Lindell was reportedly going to be part of this web-series reunion.
Either way, and this is pure speculation, so I'm not going to put it in spoiler tags; I'm high skeptical that this doesn't turn out to be a dream or something. It seems unlikely that they would kill off a long time character during a web series; that few regular viewers would see.
And what's with Belle and Philip both casually walking into someone else's apartment in frickin' New York city? How was Chloe's body not the first thing he saw, before he could shout out for her?
I can't decide which is making me a more cynical viewer, Days of Our Lives or the CW Arrowverse shows.....
