10 Rikyu [Japan] - with the possible exception of Lynch's Blue Velvet, I think this lesser known, late career gem from Japanese New Wave Director Hiroshi Teshigahara, could be my favorite film of the 80s. A masterpiece of formal elegance and restraint
9 A City of Sadness [Taiwan]
8 Black Rain [Japan] Violent Cop [Japan]
7 The Gang of Four [France]

- Jesus of Montreal (Canada)
- Why Has Bohdi Dharma Left for the West?: A Zen Fable (South Korea)
- Black Rain (Japan)
- A City of Sadness (Taiwan)
- Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (Spain) -- need to see this again. Really stretching to include it here because I wasn't all that impressed back in the day, but I have nothing else worthy of listing.

Was not a fan of this, when I saw it 20 odd years ago. Will probably rewatch at some point as I want to catch up on Jodorowsky. The only other film of his I've previously seen is El Topo which I liked a lot more.

- Jesus of Montreal (Canada)
Jesus of Montreal blew me away when it came out. Hard 10 from me.
