I'm not that familiar with Boston's albums but I love Cheap Trick.

Cheap Trick. Boston got a lot of mileage out of that one riff

Boston's debut is a good time, but Cheap Trick crushes them.

Cheap Trick's first four albums are good, solid power pop, but they took a nosedive once the 80s hit and never really recovered. Boston's debut is one of those essentially perfect pop/rock albums with several stone cold classics, but they never even got close to equaling it (their second album's pretty good, though). So it's a tough call... I'd take Boston's debut over anything Cheap Trick did, but Cheap Trick has more that's worthwhile. Both are bands I think are served well with a good compilation album, and if we're just talking about the quality of that compilation I'd probably take Boston, but if I was going to listen to the albums I'd probably go with Cheap Trick.

I love both bands, but I prefer Boston.
I remember the first time I saw Cheap Trick on tv. Rick Nielsen was quite impressive.
