Classic Rock Magazine's 50 Best Albums of the 2010's10. Judas Priest - Firepower (2018) 9. Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow (2011) 8. Idles - Joy As An Act of Resistance (2018) 7. Steven Wilson - Hand. Cannot. Erase. (2015) 6. Queens Of The Stone Age - ...Like Clockwork (2013) 5. David Bowie - Blackstar 4. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light (2011) 3. Iron Maiden - The Book Of Souls (2015) 2. Tool - Fear Inoculum (2019) 1. Rush - Clockwork Angels (2012) www.loudersound.com/features/the-50-best-rock-albums-of-the-decadeI'm good with Clockwork Angels being number one, but I think Fear Inoculum could be a little lower and Hand Cannot Erase could be a little higher. Kate Bush looks a little out of place there.

I love David Bowie and fully respect the magnitude of this album, but personally, I prefer his older works.

Is Kate Bush's music more rock-oriented now? Never heard of Idles. Can't say that I'm a Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree fan. As big a Rush fan as I am I'm not really much of a prog-head. Clockwork Angels was a solid start to finish album and a fitting end(?) for Rush.

Is Kate Bush's music more rock-oriented now? Never heard of Idles. I'd say the opposite is true for Kate Bush nowadays. Both Aerial and 50 Words for Snow have been tending more abstract and mood/ambient-driven than her previous work, moving into more of a "tonal poem" territory than the more theatrical or histrionic style of her earlier albums. As for Idles, they're a very good Wire-esque post-punk/art-punk band, if a tad on the conservative side musically speaking:

Also you would be excused if you were to believe rock is dead after looking at this list, because my God is it atrocious. There weren't that many landmark rock albums this decade as its time at the vanguard of the medium is well past by now, but of the few there were, they somehow managed to miss out on most of them. Seriously, no Swans? No Daughters? Not even King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? At this point I have to be surprised that they didn't miss out on Blackstar either, but who in their right mind puts Fear Inoculum or fucking Rush above it? It's a Classic Rock Magazine list and I'm still disappointed.

Hall of Famers?/

In all seriousness, I don't mind Rush, but album of the decade material? Get fucking real. If it were a monumental swan song like Bowie's Blackstar I'd understand, but it ain't. It ain't even one of the best for a band that in its best period was a B-tier prog act at most.

Have you heard the strainers produced by the in-flight mixer? Sweet music to my nose, eyes and ears, oh yeh.

Strange list. Clockwork Angels was overrated because it was Rush's best in decades, but that wasn't saying much. Fear Inoculum will be like most Tool in that it will grow in popularity and stature over time. Tool always makes songs/albums that take a while to fully sink in, so I wouldn't have minded seeing it anywhere on this list since it'll probably outlast most of these. I've already come to feel that Pneuma and 7empest are among the best rock songs of the decade. I loved, loved, loved Maiden's Book of Souls. My reactions to their reunion work has been pretty mixed, but I'd say Book of Souls is only a notch below Brave New World, which I actually think is one of their top 3 albums. Surprised Blackstar wasn't even higher, but I'm one of the few who wasn't blown away by it. It was solid, but, like with Rush, not up there with his best. Not a big Foo Fighters fan so haven't heard that one. Also not a big QOTSA fan, but I did love ...Like Clockwork. I think it's by far their best album and wouldn't have mind seeing it higher. I'm a pretty big Steven Wilson fan too, but I think Hand. Cannot. Erase. is my least favorite of his solo albums beside his debut (Raven is his best, IMO). Haven't heard Idles yet. Kate Bush isn't rock. Firepower was also a really solid album and Priest's best since their reunion, but again top 10 seems to be overrating it.

I'm shocked that I actually own an album on a publication's best of list. Judas Priest's "Firepower" is one of my favorite 2018 album releases.
