I never followed Rush all that closely outside of Tom Sawyer and a few other more popular songs of theirs but I always appreciated their talent. I’ve been checking out some of their later albums and it turns out I really like Counterparts and Snakes and Arrows. I’ll have to delve further. The World has lost a brilliantly gifted musician and songwriter. Rest in peace. Honestly, as much as I love Rush (top 30 band) I don't think their last 30 years were very good. I think their first three post-Moving Pictures albums were pretty solid, and their last album (Clockwork Angels) might've been the best of that time span, but the bulk of their reputation and greatness rests on that run of albums from 2112 in '76 to Moving Pictures in '81.

I'd definitely include Signals in your statement. For me personally though their greatness lies from their debut to Grace Under Pressure, maybe even Power Windows-- Mystic Rhythms is a standout.

I wouldn't object to anyone who wanted to include Signals/GUP/PW in that run. I actually really like all three albums, but I still think they're a definite step down from Moving Pictures and the albums before that. I actually think PW has a few of Rush's most underrated tracks, if one can get past the very dated 80s production (which I actually find quite good and moody). Grand Designs is one of my favorites from that period (one of my favorite Alex Lifeson solos too):
