The whole story is sad and shameful. I know no one died and that people who don't care about sports are like First World Problems!! or whatever, but you can still have a little sadness for a one-time American sports hero turning himself into this. I can't read the full reports, or even writings about the reports because once I get to a part like "investigator Dowd stated in a December 2002 interview that he believed Rose probably bet against the Reds while managing them," it's just too to keep reading.

Same. I wanted to vote "yes" but I couldn't. So I didn't vote.

Simply based on his stats, yes. Although, I would bet money he doesn't get there.

Yes.
And I despise him as a human being.
He was pretty much a slap hitter (singles hitter) - the white version of Tony Gwynn - but he holds the record for the most hits in MLB history - for that alone the piece of trash should get in.
I always wanted to see a celebrity boxing match between Pete Rose and Lenny Dykstra - I bet they would both do it too - anything for a buck is pretty much both of their motto's.

I'm not old enough to witness him as a player or manager. That said, from what I know his gambling was never as a manager and that he never gambled against his own team to throw games for his own profit. If he never blew games for his gambling than hell yes he should be in. If he did? Than fuck no.

My problem is that he managed games he didn't bet on with the focus on the games that he had a financial stake in. Why blow your closer in the game before that one?
I like the Dead and buried option. Though I should vote "no." I'm sure Bonds is a HOF-er had he not juiced, but juiced players cost the others roster spots, money, recognition, fame. Their stats look puny in comparison.

If he never blew games for his gambling than hell yes he should be in. If he did? Than fuck no. He admitted to constantly betting as a manager. www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=2798498

He broke the one rule that someone in MLB can’t break. He knew the consequences of his actions and did it anyway. I love Pete Rose, he was the player that put the Phillies over the top in 1980. But no one is above the game. This means you too Barry Bonds.

Pro sports cannot ever be perceived as fixed. Ever.

Betting on games, especially betting against the team that you are managing, is WAAAAAAAAAY worse than juicing to make yourself a better player.
Comparing Pete Rose to Barry Bonds is silly.
And no, Pete Rose doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame.
