I thought that bowling alleys were gone, but there's one in town here. I've never bowled in my life, but I do know that bowling is a big thing for a lot of people, so whenever a bowling alley gets shut down, bulldozed and turned into a condo or a Rite-Aid drugstore, leaving a lot of those bowlers really pissed, I guess I can relate to their ire.

I know where a couple still are, but phone booths seem extinct. The one in my home town got taken away just recently. I was driving past where it used to be a few times, and I'd get this heavy "there's something missing" feeling about the area before I noticed what was gone. Used it quite a lot back in the day, before the town got mobile coverage. I know what you mean. I've discovered if you live long enough, you see whole areas of town deteriorate and maybe disappear.

Milkmen. Don't see too many home-delivery milk trucks anymore. I see them occasionally in my part of town, but they're not nearly as prevalent as they were years ago.

Convenience stores.
Nearly all of them around me are now paired at major gas stations. There are handfuls of mom & pop shops still around, but they barely last a year.

I could use delivery of milk right now. There hasn't been whole milk at the stores here for weeks and I had to resort to getting soy milk. Man I forgot how much I dislike that stuff.

Are your supplies mainly flown in? Maybe the weather has been making it hard to fly stuff in to Kotzebue.

And yeah everything during the winter is flown in.

Pay phones. I know where a couple still are, but phone booths seem extinct. Apparently the Brits are getting rid of their red phone boxes , and one has shown up unexpectedly in the New York countryside . (I wonder if it works? If it doesn't, it should!)Shades of Who/What ? Maybe a special Marker ?!

In my general area:
Bowling alleys (our neighborhood one was razed to build an Aldi grocery store). Hobby stores (I guess all hobbyists buy online now) Drive in hamburger stands (there is one mom & pop one close by but several others have shut down in the past 10 years). Independent movie theaters (they are all chains now)
We still have a roller skating rink which is fun for my kids.
One thing not going away are nail and hair salons. I swear there must be 1 for every two blocks or so.

Hobby stores, especially model kits! I remember this one store in Downtown Vancouver I used to pass by all the time on the bus and finally I decided to go check it out--not long after it was out of business. Toy stores too.
One thing that is mind boggling though--my hometown had a couple of hobby stories that went belly up-but I remember one opening that catered to comics and I figured that was going to be gone in record time..and yet, it is still there! 25 years later.
It is in the worst location too. Caters to card and board games. The guy who runs it had a collection of rare Spider-man comics which he sold to keep the store going.

That's cool, we have one comic book store as well although I quit collecting them back in the '90s. It's cool that they still have support though among the community. Ours doesn't have board games though unfortunately, although I think they host card driven game tournaments like Magic.
