And for anyone who thinks Charmed was not a male fantasy, remember that throughout the show they turned into sexy superheroes, genies, mermaids, valkyries, wrestlers, vampires, faeries, and many other male fantasies. Yeah its pretty naive to think its not a male fantasy.

The problem wasn't so much the skimpy outfits but the way the actresses were treated behind the scenes. From what I heard about it in interviews with the actresses it was really bad taylorfirst1 and while 'Charmed' was created by a female writer they got rid of her in Season 4 and the one female Director they had was said to be treated like garbage. The actresses were talked down to a lot too and were told to do things that they saw as degrading for scenes that never made it to screen. 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' was said to have some problems but nowhere near as bad as 'Charmed' and fast forward to today when the actresses wanted to make a continuation series for the fans the network took the idea but replaced them with younger actresses. The show should have sicked with Constance M. Burge and got rid of Bred Kern as the show was better when she was in charge. .

The women felt like real women interacting with one another. Buffy felt like a guy's idea of what women were like. I'm sure that interview I read where Whedon bitched about Green quitting as the reason for Willow becoming a lesbian colored my perspective as I know I saw it before the show jumped to UPN. Or was it a different channel? I dropped out of Buffy before that, but I lasted longer with Angel, though not to the end. I liked the relationships on Angel better. Hell, Xena & Gabrielle worked better as a couple for me.

Yeah its pretty naive to think its not a male fantasy. Dude, ANYTHING can be a male fantasy. The women on Charmed felt like how women/sisters interact. Buffy felt like it had male writers at it's core. Now do you see what I am saying? The Halliwells felt like women Buffy less so. I could relate to the Halliwells as women I interacted with. Buffy always felt filtered.

I don`t really see why it should be a problem if its male fantasy, Its not a problem when its female fantasy so why is it a problem when its male fantasy? I could not relate to Leo as a man or any of them men in Charmed. The only one i could relate a little to was Piper. I don`t get this idea people have today that you can only relate or have a role model that is just like you. You don`t This is the last thing i will say in this thread. And i am sure you will completely misunderstand what i just wrote.

He'd done previous interviews where he mentioned that clues and foreshadowing were dropped for either Xander or Willow to come out as gay. Seth leaving the show just gave him the impetus to go with Willow.

Buffy, duh.
Charmed was a copycat of The Craft, although a pretty good show. Have Never seen the newer version.

Actually I think it`s the complete opposite. The Women on Buffy are more relatable and realistic to me. Especially Willow and Buffy herself. Speaking as a gal who has 3 trunks full of comics from the 1960s through the 1980s, Buffy feels more like Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, etc. Female characters written by male writers. robertjamesbell.wordpress.com/2010/06/19/comic-book-superheroine-breasts/I was nervous about Joss Whedon directing Avengers specifically because of Buffy being a poor representation of females. And the interview I read in a sci-fi mag where he bragged he made Willow a lesbian because Seth Green wanted off the show. It seemed very petty the way he phrased it, in a ha! I'll show you sort of line. Damn, the name escapes me. I subscribed to the thing because it wasn't always in the bookstores. Granted, I only made it to Season 5 of Charmed. Maybe it was Season 4...My husband died of a heart attack in 2001 & my life changed...I dropped a lot of evening tv for a few years as I needed to do school activities with my teen. I also dropped out of Smallville around the same time. Supernatural was the only one I kept up with. My kid got into anime & we'd watch it together in the evenings before bedtime. What does that article about giant breasts have to do with Buffy, though? Say what you want about the writing, but I didn't see a lot of sexual objectification going on. No one on Buffy was even busty.

I mean there was some Glory comes to mind, but that was part of the joke. And there was one of Xander's dreams. And that one time Willow and Xander checked out Dawn's ass by accident.

My choice should be obvious, as my username is a variant on one of the greatest characters in TV history, and my signature is one of his best quotes (and he had many of those to choose from).

Charmed was OK, never saw the final season though. Buffy easily for me.
The Halliwells felt like characters to me. Whereas Buffy, Willow, Cordelia, Anya, etc felt like people, with depth.

I prefer Buffy the Vampire Slayer, much funnier and better characters. I prefer the earlier seasons when she was in high school, the college years aren't as much fun.

It was only in fan fictions they where a couple and in the heads of fans. And no i would not have a problem with them being a lesbian couple, but personally i never saw them as lesbians i see them as bisexuals. Of course if you seen them as a lesbian couple i have no problem with that.
