I think this is the worst response to any compliment --- "I know."
I ran into a friend at the grocery store last night. She said she wasn't feeling well. I told her, "Well you look beautiful." (She did as usual look good.)
Her response was "I know". She was serious and a little annoyed.
What do you think?

I agree it's a bad response. I think I would have replied "oh, I was just trying to be polite".

Regardless, whatever the reason is, that is not a good reply to a compliment. If she told you she wasn't feeling well, wouldn't it have been more appropriate though to comment that you are sad or sorry to hear that and hope that she feels better soon? Then you could have said something like keep beautiful, rather than a direct compliment. She's always sick. I've told her that before. |

Your comment sounds sorta creepy and hers sounds self-absorbed and narcissistic. It would have been more appropriate for her to thank you and perhaps add that she doesn’t feel it at the moment. If she was a true narcissist she’d have informed him that she is beautiful.

That was a response and for all we know she might not really think she’s beautiful but as usual you are giving it a negative interpretation. So you want to know the psychology behind something that can't possibly be known, as to why she agreed with the comment made? It can only be seen from an objective perspective. Yes, I know you are passively negative and aggressive, something you often go into deep denial about with your trolling. You never have much to offer anyway that is worth listening too.
